Leipsic. &c. It is patronized in Spain. in the most magni- ficent manner. by the . Ayuntamiento. and the various corporations, and the pupils are all, of the first families in the kingdom. In 1820, it was introduced by Messrs. Sexto Peres and C. Peichler, and the first academy was opened at Cadiz, and has been re- cently a lo; ted by a number of professors, among whom are found the names of Mr. Win. Siyar, Emanual Sanclementi. first organist of Seville Cathedral, Mr. E. Gomez, second organist, Riicker. &c. Every professor who adopted Mr. Logier's system, had previous- ly to his receiving the knowledge of his discoveries to pay into his hands the sum of one hundred gnineus, and to secure bonds for the further sum of five hundred pounds, as to their professional character, &r. &c.
The general list of the professors on this system on the continent of Europe. may be seen by applying at the academy. In London alone. more than forty of the most emi- nent profes-ors have adopted it. among whom stand foremost, Webbe, Bellamy, Kalk- brenner, Win. Henry. Cutler, Mus. Bac. Ox. Col., Drs. Essex, Smith, Clarke, T. Cooke, K ullmark, &c. &c. &c.
This system of teaching music, comprises three distinct branches. The art of play- s ing on the Piano Forte, and .. Organ" &c. (in the elementary part of which is employ- s ed the " CHIROPLAST ;"*) harmony and composition ; and the peculiar method by which the instruction is conveyed to the pupils. The lectures combine innumerable branches of the abstract sciences, as relating solely to music, and the application of those sciences to practical harmony.
Mr. Browne instructed upwards of " three hundred pu; ils" of the first circle in Socie- ty at Boston, where he resided for several years. Mr. Browne is well aware of the ex- ertive vigilance that has been resorted to, by interested persons in this city, in order to misrepresent a system, with which they are utterly unacquainted. Miss Browne. "On- GANIST" of St. John's Church ( the I.utheran ) and formerly organist of Christ Church Boston, &c. &c., has for sale at the academy, and at all the music stores, her musical compositions, consisting of Songs, Variations, &c. &c.
Pupils may be attended either at their own residence, or at the academy, on Logier's system, or on the old methods, which Mr. Browne taught for several years. For terms, and further particulars, be pleased to refer to the academy.

Reliance Transportation Company's Line of Portable Iron Boats.
The above Drawing is intended to represent an improvement in transportation of merchandise, coal. &c. on Rail Roads connecting with Canals ; obviating the necessity of unloading cargoes of merchandise, coal. &c. from boats into cars, and vice versa.
These Boats are built of ROLLED IRON, in sections susceptible of being connected when on Canal, so as to form a boat. and separated when on Rail Road to answer as car- bodies, resting on cradles made to fit the curves of the boat and placed on right-wheeled cars, which when connected are passed into canal by INCLINED PLANES or LIFT LOCKS, no hoisting machinery being required, as the water floats the boat from the cars.
This improvement is intended to give SECURITY TO GOODS, prevent SEPARATION OF LOTS, on the way, lessen the TIME OF DELIVERY and COST OF TRANSPORTATION, and add value to our coal regions by running the boats direct to the coal banks, (where the coal can be screened and made fit for shipping on its arrival at tide water, ) saving wharf- age, expenses, &c. equal to seventy-five cents per ton on every ton thus delivered on board Vessels. The transportation of coal within the next five years will perhaps equal 5,000,000 tons annually within the State of Pennsylvania, by this improvement several millions of dollars annually will be saved to consumers of Pennsylvania coal, if this means of transportation shall be generally adopted. In the transportation of merchan- dise, produce, &c. from the East to the West, &c. by Pennsylvania Canals and Rail Roads, a saving of upwards of a million of dollars per annum would now be obtained, by using the Portable Boat, &c.
The improvements in transportation between Philadelphia and Pittsburg within the last 50 years have advanced with rapid strides. Our drawing represents first the Pack Horse prostrate beneath a burden of some three hundred pounds weight, next the saving of horse power on Canal, on which one horse is capable of doing the work of 500 pack- horses, and next represents a Locomotive propelled by steam moving heavy cars BUR- DENED WITH FREIGHTED BOATS, bounding ap the towering heights of the Alleghanies, startling the Deer from its lair, and striking with awe the Indian Hunter as the fiery meteor with its lengthened train flits across his path.
This improvement has been brought into use by a large expenditure of money and much THOUGHT and has met with serious opposition from the want of confidence in its practica. hit!ty. and the opposition of many who Have investments in Cars and Boats of a different construction. the value of which must be deprecimed by the introduction of a more chear and expeditious means of transportation.
