NOTE 3-"On Tuesday, Ioth day of Tamuz, 5591, June 1831, my beloved and lamented mother Mrs. Rebecca Phillips de- parted this life at half-past six o'clock in the morning aged eighty-five years, six months and eleven days. She was buried on the 22nd day of June, adjoining the Reverend A. S. Key's. She was the daughter of the Reverend David Mendez Machado, one of the first Hazanim of New York, and of his wife, Zipporah, the daughter of Doctor Nunez, who came over from Portugal as Physician to Governor Oglethorpe and his suite at the first settlement of Georgia. My mother was born in the Town of Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. All her ancestors were born in Portugal."
(Signed) ZALEGMAN PHILLIPS.
NOTE 4-Hon. N. Taylor Phillips, of New York a great- nephew of Mr. Zalegman Phillips, says that Mrs. Rebecca Phillips was not born in Reading, but on Stone Street, New York City, 1747.

NOTE 5-Dr. Cyrus Adler, of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C., found in the Diary of Dr. Benjamin Rush the following lines about Mrs. Bravo, wife of Jacob M. Bravo, buried in the Cemetery.
"December 15th, 1812. This day I received twenty dollars from Mrs. Bravo, from Jamaica, for attendance upon her husband who died in this city.
I did not expect a payment of this bill, having seldom and perhaps never received payment of a bill under equal circumstances, Mrs. Bravo was a Jewess."
