PHOENIX.


Is the Capital of Arizona and County Seat of Maricopa County. It is the largest City between El Paso and Los Angeles, and is 417 miles from Los Angeles and 447 miles from El Paso. It is the social, business, and political center of Arizona.


TRANSPORTATION


Direct connections with the trans-continental lines of Santa Fe and Southern Pacific. Branch lines connect with mining and agricultural towns. Stage lines connect with other towns of the Salt River Valley.


AUTO ROADS.


The Bankhead National Highway, National Old Trails, Ocean to Ocean, Old Spanish Trails, Atlantic Pacific, Lee Highway and others pass through Phoenix. The only all the year round transcon- tinental auto road passess through southern Arizona and the best and most travelled of the roads across the Southern part of the State is through Phoenix. Maricopa County, of which Phoenix is the County Seat, is spending $8,800,000 in the building of more than 300 miles of hard surfaced roads.


HOTELS.


Phoenix is well supplied with hotels, rooming houses, and apartment houses.


GARAGES.


Nearly all makes of cars have local agencies, and repair garages handle the needs of autoists. An Auto Park Ground, modern and fully equipped, is maintained by the City. All privileges are avail- able at 50 cents a day. This park is located on the east side of East Lake Park at Jefferson and Fif- teenth Streets.
