This machine has been designed to meet with the wants of Box Makers principally, and it will surface on both sides 26 inches wide, the rolls expand 6 inches high, there are 2 adjustable saws for ripping the lumber, which can be set to a desirable width. The rolls are 6 inches in dismeter and are driven by a double set of expanding links and gears. The cutter heads are of solid steel, the besrings are 2 inches full in diameter by 8 inches long. The feed works are very heavy. The rolls, bed-plate and pressure bars are all adjustable which is a great convenience. The pressure bar over the under head can be thrown over on a hinge, and the same with the top head. This machine will rip and plane 20,000 feet of box lumber In 10 hours, or without saws 40,000 feet in 10 hours. I can also build from the same patterns a matching machine with or without under bead, weight 6500 pounds. The tight and loose pullies on counter shaft are 16 inches in diameter and 812 inches face, and should run 800 revolutions. There is a separate counter shaft to run the saw with tight and loose pulleys, with pulleys on each end of saw arbor, I. H. SMALL.
