Tourists visiting this State cannot find a more beautiful and diversified trip. The steamers leave the ferry slip at the foot of Market street for Sausalito, the only Resort on the Bay where good bathing, boat- ing and fishing can be found. The route from here runs along Richardson's Bay to the base of Mount Tamal- pais, one of the most striking features of the Bay of San Francisco. Stopping at the station named after the mountain, the traveler will find teams ready to take him up to the top of this giant, from which & mag- nificent view of the Farallone Islands and the Pacific Ocean can be had. One mille from this you reach Ross Station, the starting point for Bolinas, the most romantic little watering place on the Coast Three miles further you commence to climb White's Hill, and before reaching its summit you will have witnessed two auch perfect " Horseshoe Bends" that almost convince the traveler that he is viewing another road than that over which he has just passe ]. Almost immediately after the descent of this mountain com- mences, views of the picturesque valley of the Lagunitas greet the eye, and in a few minutes the angler İn anxious for the train to stop so that he can throw his lins in the rippling waters of the Paper Mill Creek, which are filled with trout. At thirty miles, or only two hours from the city, you reach Camp Taylor. where the hungry sportsman or city traveler can find rest and refreshment. Three miles from this you reach Tocaloma Statlon, where stages are ready to drive yon to Olemn Town, or through Beur Valley, one of the most beautiful in the world, to the Occan, a distance of six miles; five miles from this you reach Point Reyes Station, where again teams are found waiting to convey you to the site of the New Hotel "Inverness," which will vie with any on the Pacific Coast! Almost Immediately fronting this hotel is one of the finest beaches in the State. A short distance from this station the route skirts the Bny of Tomales for nearly sixteen miles, whose waters are filled with fish and covered with wild fowt. Rench. ing the top of Tomales Hill yon enter the town of that name, the center of a prosperous agricultural region. From this station to Valley Ford, distant six and one-half miles, the country is entirely devoted to pota- toes and grain ; thence to Freestone, four and one-quarter milles, where the aroma from the far-famel Redwoods is first detected, but upon arriving at Htowards (or Oceidental, as the Postoffice is still called) distance only three and three-quarter miles you are fully impressed with the wonderful appearance of these health-giving "Giants of the Forests!" From this station large quantities of lumber, bark and wood are shipped ; from this point to Duncan's Mills Station, a distance of ten miles, splendid salmon and trout fishing, boating and bathing are to be had along the banks of the Russian Itiver ; thence along Austin Creek for a distance of seven and a half miles to Cazadero, the present terminus of the road, and one of the loveliest spots in the State, the climate being as soft and mild as thut of southern France.
The Hotels and adjoining cottages all along the route have been thoroughly renovated and fitted up with all modern improvements, and are now being kept by experienced men, who know the value and importance of a good table.
