PASADENA'S FLORAL EMBLEM. - On pages 57 and 59 I have explained how the notably conspicuous profusion of wild poppies on our highland slopes first suggested the idea of " San Pascual " as a descrip- tive term for the Pasadena region, in April, 1770-over 125 years ago. This poppy is therefore historically and distinctively the floral emblem of Pasadena, and is so represented by Mr. Lang in the artistic em- bossing stamp which he made for the covers of this History volume.
