First Congregational Church.

This church was organized July 29th, 1849. The present membership is about seven hundred and sixty.

Services are held every Sabbath at eleven o'clock A. M., and at half past seven o'clock P. M. between the first of September and first of May, and at forty- five minutes past seven o'clock P. M. during the other months of the year. Chinese School at six o'clock. Church Prayer Meeting every Wednesday at half past seven o'clock P. M. Socials monthly, Monday and Thursday evenings. Kindergarten on Harrison street ; Miss Williams, Principal. Mission near Golden Gate Park ; Benevolent Society and Delta Sigma Literary, semi-monthly. Teachers' Association, monthly.

The Sabbath School connected with the Church has an enrolled membership of over one thousand schol- ars and teachers. It meets immediately after morn- ing service.

Young People's Society for Christian Endeavor meets every Sunday at half-past six P. M., and com- prises over three hundred members. The Society has established the Barrows Library and Reading Rooms at 707 Devisadero street, with & semi-monthly course of free lectures during the winter. The Library and Lecture Reading Rooms are open every week day afternoon and evening.

The Richarte Temperance Society of the Church supporta Free Reading Rooms at 155 New Mont- gomery street.

Plymouth Congregational Church.

This church was organized January 12th, 1862.

Services are held every Sabbath at eleven o'clock A. M. and at half past seven o'clock P. M. Bible Classes and Sabbath School at half past nine o'clock A. M., and immediately after the morning service. Weekly Prayer Meeting every Wednesday evening and lay preparatory classes every Tuesday evening.

Third Congregational Church.

Location, south side of Fifteenth street, between Valencia and Mission. Rev. J. A. Cruzan, Pastor ; residence, 120 Capp street. Number of members, two hundred and thirty-five.

This church had its origin in the Fall of 1862.

Services are held every Sabbath at eleven o'clock A. M. and half past seven o'clock P. M. Prayer Meet- ing every Wednesday evening.

The Sabbath School has an average attendance of about four hundred and fifty. Meets immediately after morning service.

The Young People's Society of Obristian Endeavor numbers nearly two hundred members. The Senior Branch meets Sunday evenings at half-past six o'clock. The Junior Branch meets Friday afternoons at fifteen minutes past three o'clock. A Sewing School and Drill Corps are maintained in connection with the Junior Branch, and meet at four o'clock Friday afternoons.

The Ladies' Aid Soctety meets bi-weekly on Tues- days at half-past ten o'clock in the morning. The Hawthorne Literary Society meets on the last Friday evening of each month. The Alpha Kappa Missionary Society meets bi-weekly ou Wednesday afternoons at half-past three o'clock.

Fourth Congregational Church.

California Chinese Mission.

Incorporated March, 1876. This corporation has been formed for the purpose of conducting Christian, missionary and educational operations among the Chinese and Japanese in California.

There are three Mission Schools in San Francisco and fourteen elsewhere :

Religious services are held every Sunday at No. 5 Brenham Place, at a quarter past twelve o'clock P. M., and half-past seven o'clock P. M., and every Wednes- day at half-past seven o'clock P. M. Hours of in- struction in all the schools : seven to half past nine P. M., each day except Wednesday.

The Congregational Association of Christian Chin- ese, organized in connection with this Mission, for mutual aid in the development of Christian character and in doing Christian work, has about five hundred members. Wom Chung, President; Lem Chung, Secretary.

EPISCOPAL. Trinity Church.

This is the oldest parish of the Protestant Episcopal Church on the Pacific Coast.

It had its beginning in Divine Service, celebrated on the eighth day of July, 1849.

The ordinary services are Morning Prayer, at eleven o'clock, with Holy Communion on all Sundays and Holy-days. Evening Prayer at half past seven o'clock every Sunday. Sermons after Morning and Evening Prayers every Sunday, and after Morning Prayers at

the greater Festivals and on Thanksgiving Day. Sun- day School at half past nine o'clock A. M., and Public Catechising at the same hour, the first Sunday in the month. Ladies' Pastoral Aid Society after Morning Prayer, on Fridays at eleven o'clock A. M. Sewing School at ten o'clock A, M., every Saturday. Lenten Services as arranged by the Rector from time to time.

Grace Church,

Location, southeast corner of California and Stock- ton streets. Rev: R. C. Foute, Rector ; residence, South side Jackson between Laguna and Buchanan. This church was organized in 1849.

The corner stone of the present church edifice was laid by Bishop Kip in May, 1860.

Services are held every Sunday at eleven o'clock A. M., and half past seven o'clock P. M. Sunday School meets at half past nine o'clock A. M.

St. John's Church.

This church was established in November, 1857.

Services are held every Sunday at eleven o'clock A. M., and on Sunday evening at half past seven o'clock. Also, on all Holy Days at eleven o'clock A. M. The Sunday School numbers about three hun- dred and fifty scholars, and twenty teachers. Num- ber of volumes in the library, one thousand. Meets at half past nine o'clock A. M.

Church of the Advent,

This parish was organized June, 1858. The present church building was completed and consecrated Feb- ruary 24, 1861. Services every Sunday at eleven o'clock A.M., and half past seven o'clock P.M. The Sunday School has an average attendance of about four hun- dred, and meets at half-past nine o'clock A. M.

St. Luke's Church.

The church is supported by offerings and monthly subscriptions, and seats are free. Services are held every Sunday at eight and eleven o'clock A.M. and at half past seven o'clock P. M; and on Saints' Days, and other Holy Days at eight o'clock A. M. Sunday School meets at half past two o'clock P. M.

St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church.

St. Peter's Church,

Sunday School services in connection with the Episcopal Church are held every Sunday at Cambrian Hall, 1133 Mission street, at half past nine o'clock A. M., under the superintendence of W. G. Badger.
