PREFACE.

The publishers present their thanks to all persons who have furnished information for the REGISTER for 1875. Be- sides the usual matter, it contains other statistics of interest to the present time. In compiling this work, we have in all cases referred to the most authentic sources of information. And while we cannot presume that out of hundreds of returns, no error may have occurred, yet we can assert that no labor has been spared to make the present issue an accurate one.

In the list of Attornies, no names have been inserted but those who are duly authorized by the Courts to practice in the State; and in the Clergy lists, all who are not regularly or- dained Ministers, have been excluded.

Those who furnish matter for the Register, or desire any changes to be made, are reminded that the work goes to press about the 1st of November.

Commissioners for other States should give notice of any additions or changes directly to us, as there is no other means of reference.
