Edith Sharpless Ferris was a half-sister of Sarah Sharpless Poole.

In 1785, with other Quakers, he petitioned the General Assembly for relief for enslaved Negroes. Moved to Philadelphia in 1811 where he apparently gave up his craft, for he is knows to have worked as a store- keeper and apothecary until his death. Hindus-Delaware Silversmiths, pp 265-266.
