T HE HAWKEYE insures property against fire lightning and tornadoes, and has done more business, paid more losses and has a larger surplus over all liabilities than any other Iowa company. ' It is purely a home institution, confining its business to Iowa alone. As to its standing among Iowa people, we refer to the above showing, which speaks for itself.
Patronize 'Home Institutions and Industries is the watchword. . Don't send your money out of the State when you can get a policy in one of the best Com- panies, Home or Foreign, by patronizing the HAWKEYE INSURANCE CO. of Des Moines, Iowa.

Washington Life Insurance Co. - Of NEW YORK
ECAUSE: Although not as Old as the Oldest, .. .
Or as Big as the Biggest, it is 1.
Safest Among the Safe! Strongest Among the Strong,
AND ITS CONTRACTS ARE AS
Good as Gold Bonds and Bear Better Interest Than U. S. Government Bonds.
Old Enough! Safe Enough ! Strong Enough and Good Enough for Anybody
That's why I insure my life in it. Can' you or anybody else give any better reason for Insuring in any other company? Does any company offer any more reliable inducements or present stronger claims?
BECAUSE: Its Assets of $13,000,000 are Invested in Undoubted Securities.
WE are justified in saying that i no securities are so staple and safe for the investment of a life insur- ance company as well selected bonds br mortgages, and that from no other sound secureties can so large a rate of interest be realized! "- 35 th Annual Repart of the Mutual Life of New York.

AGENTS WANTED. HAddress C. E. Rawson, President.
TO INSURANCE AGENTS. 1
GENTLEMEN: -- The Des Moines Life Association, operated on the "Rawson Sys- tem" of life insurance, is not a high rate company or a low rate company, but an or- ganization whose premiums are based on insurance experience, and are sufficient, but
not exhorbitant. According to the sworn statements of the old-line companies to the New York Insurance Department for the past thirty years, we are collecting just a lit- tle more money to pay death losses with than they do, but not nearly as much for ox- pense and reserve. Thus you will see that, by basing our mortuary collection on this experience, we are absolutely safe at less than one-half the rates charged by old line companies. We need not tell you that an agent's value is measured by his ability to collect premiums, or that it is much easier to collect a premium of $75 for a $5,000 pol- icy in our company than it is for a $2,000 policy in an old line company. This is why agents say that the Des Moines Life Association isja bonanza for thein. The insured, for the same premium, gets more than twice the insurance furnished by the old line com- panies, and insurance that is absolutely safe, and yet the agent's commission is about the same. We write as many lowa people in a month as any old-line Iowa company writes in a year. We are doing business in fourteen different States, and before the close of 1894 will be in at least twenty States. For three years in succession we have written more Iowa business than any phe company, eastern or western.
We have some good territory for special or general agents. Address,

Read
THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.
ABSOLUTELY SAFE-READ CARE FULLY.
WE wish to explain why the Des Moines Life As- I sociation is absolutely safe for all time toy come. |The money paid in by the people for insier- "ance is divided into three different funds, viz.
Mortuary Reserve.
Expense!
These three items comprise the elements that make' up the gross premjum charged: i The following shows the amount charged by old line companies for pure life insurance, and also the amount charged by us.
Cost of Old-Line Insurance at Age 40 for
$1,000.

Cost of Des Moines Life af Age 40 for

Expense
B 00 -- $15 00
You can see from the above that we collect more to pay our death losses than do the old-line or legal re- serve companies, but not nearly se mijch for reserve and expenses. The president of many old-line. com- pantes draws a salary Hof $50,000 pier anmimi (the same as the President of the United States), a few of them get $65 000,' while our president simply gets pay for the time he puts in, and mustbe paid from the $3.00 per Stiboo, as well as all the rest of the expenses of the company.
BUSINESS MEN ASK FOR OUR INSURANCE
Several of our Des Moines med, during past year; blive either called at dur office or asked us to call on them and write their applid (tions for a policy, which has been very gratifying i deed. None has been more so than a man whose | name is familiar not only to insurance [men but to the reisses of people! of the great State of Iowa. \ \ We refer! o Adam Howell, president of the Hawkeye Fire In france Company Jof this dity.
Not long since, Mr. Lo well said, as, we were dining together, "" Why don't you call and write me a policy in your company?'' at vie same time say' ing that he had heard a great many good things said about the D. M. L. All and felt that we were worthy of the slipport of our home people, is we were build- ing up a Western institution that was a credit to our city and State _ We appreciate the confidence thus placed in the L). M. I ! Al by a man that stands on the top round of insurance and at the head of a company that needs no introduction to the people of Iowa. We. feel that we have added to our membership a valua- ble name, one that will carry weight with it. | At the same time we have increased Mr. Howell's estate just. $2,000.
