Colleges and Seminaries.
Chicago Theological Seminary .- The Seminary grounds extend the width of an entire block, fronting the centre of Union Park, and is open to students of all denominations.
Lind University .- The Literary departments of this University are located at Lake Forest, a new and beautiful village on the Lake shore, and on the Chicago and Milwaukee Railroad, 27 miles from Chicago. A fine building has been ereeted for the Prepara- tory Department. This school is in a very flourishing state, and includes a class in the first year of the College course. The Insti- tution is in charge of two competent teach- era, Prof. M C. Butler, M. A., and Rev. Williami C Dickenson, M. A., both are pro fessors elect for the College Department. Fall term commences Wednesday, Septem- ber 16th ; eloses Tuesday, December 22nd Winter term commences Monday, Jan. 4th, 1864 ; eloses Friday, April 2nd. Spring and Summer Term, commencers Monday April 22th ; eloses Tuesday, July 13th. A new chemical and philosophieal apparatus has heen procured for the School. The Board have ordered their financial Agent, Peter Page, to raise two endowments of eighteen thousand dollars each, and he has entered upon the work with good prospeets of success.
