An important post town of Fountain coun- ty, on the east bank of the Wabash river, and on the Wabash and Erie canal, and the Toledo and Wabash Railway, 14 miles from Covington, about 75 miles north- west from Indianapolis, and 22 miles from Lafayette. Dry goods for this place are generally bought in New York, and shipped by lake to Toledo, thence via To- ledo and Wabash Railway. Staple gro- ceries from Cincinnati are received by rail via Indianapolis and Lafayette. Pop- ulation 2,000.
