and to determine in each case how and under whose direction the money shall be expended, to impose any conditions and restrictions thereon which the Town may see fit; to determine how much money so appropriated shall be available for expenditures under General Laws (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 40, Section 5, Clause 34; to determine what, if any, sums so appropriated shall remain available after December 31, 1947; to fix the term and rate of in- terest of any such bonds or notes to fix such salaries as require to be fixed by the Town Meeting; and to impose such conditions upon the drawing of compensation from the Town as the Town may see fit; or take any other action in relation to any of the foregoing subjects.


ARTICLE 2. To see what action the Town will take on salaries and wages of officials and employees.


COMMITTEE REPORTS


ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of Selectmen). To take any action the Town may desire upon the reports of the several Town Boards and Com- 'mittees and to appoint or change any Committee that the Town may think proper.


ARTICLE 4. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, on and after January 1, 1948, to borrow in anticipation of the revenue of the year .1948.


ARTICLE 5. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote from surplus for the use of the Assessors in determin- ing the tax rate for the year 1947, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 6. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to sell or otherwise dispose of any real or personal property of which the Town may be possessed or seized and for which it has no further use, including all real estate of which the Town has possession or title for non-payment of taxes; and to see if the Town will vote to authorize any other department to sell or otherwise dispose of any personal property in its possession and to determine the manner, or condition of such sales, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 7. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Board of Selectmen to accept conveyances or mort- gages of any real or personal property belonging to persons receiving relief from the Town and to dispose of said property in the manner they may judge for the Town's best interest and to authorize them to discharge any encumbrances on said property if they consider it for the best interest of the Town so to do, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the discharge of such encumbrances.


STREETS AND SIDEWALKS


ARTICLE 8. (On Petition of M. Grace Swift and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept the continuation of Idlewell Blvd. to Circle Drive as a public way, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 9. (On Petition of Knox S. Ruggles and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept Southern Avenue as a public way, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 10. (On Petition of Charles H. Downs and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept King Oak Terrace as a public way or take any other action in relation thereto


ARTICLE 11. (On Petition of Alfred W. Betts and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept Revere Road from Lambert Avenue to Raleigh Road as a public way, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 12. (On Petition of Daniel Barbiere and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept Oakden Avenue as a public way, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 13. (On Petition of I. John Newton and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept Harland Road as a public way, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 14. (On Petition of Sydney L. Rosenthal and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept Lone Pine Path as a public way, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 15. (On Petition of Paul G. Eldridge and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of relocating and reconstructing Thicket Street, beginning at the junction of Pond Street and extending west to the Abington line and also to include sidewalk on westerly side extending from Pond Street to the westerly bound of property now owned and occupied by Arthur and Barbara Raymond, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 16. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to reconstruct, resurface, widen, straighten, relocate or work the following streets, provided the State or County or both will appropriate a sum of money to help defray the ex- penses of such work, to wit:

or any portion of said ways and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire by gift or purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over each of said streets, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of each of the above named streets, including the acquisition of the fee above referred to and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with any of said streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 17. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for resurfacing, repairing or reconstruction by the Street Department or under the provisions of Gen- eral Laws (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 90 for maintaining, repairing and improving the following streets or any portion thereof:


Broad Street from Middle Street to Commercial Square


Washington Street from Washington Square to Lincoln Square or if deemed advisable by the Mass. Dept. of Public Works, any other street in the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 18. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to reconstruct, resurface, widen, straighten, relocate or work that portion of


Commercial Street between Church Street and 695 Commercial Street or any portion of said way and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to , acquire by gift or purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street and highway in and over said street, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of the above named street, including the ac- quisition of the fee above referred to and for the building of any bridges, drains and conduits or securing easements which may be necessary in connection therewith, and to see whether the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with said street and in accordance with plan of Russell H. Whiting, dated July 27, 1945, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 19. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to relocate, repair and construct that part of Commercial Street from 643 to 686 according to plan of Russell H. Whiting, Town Engineer, dated May 1, 1946, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 20. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to accept the plan of Forest Street as laid out by Russell H. Whiting, Town Engineer, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 21. (On Petition of Ralph Cipullo and Others). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to construct a road for the continuation of Whitman Street to Lake street in a southeasterly direction parallel to and outside of the School grounds known as the James Humphrey School on land now recorded as Town property, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 22. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to straighten, relocate and widen Pleasant Street from 1393 Pleasant Street to junction of Water and Pleasant Streets, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 23. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will accept a reservation strip on Blanchard Road containing 2600 square feet, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 24. (On Petition of Laurids J. Jorgensen and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of providing an asphalt sidewalk, curbing and catch basins with proper drainage on Pearl Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 25. (On Petition of John L. Knowles and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to construct a permanent sidewalk on Roosevelt Road, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.


ARTICLE 26. (On Petition of Everett E. Callahan and Others). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk on the westerly side of Washington Street from Broad Street to Hunt Street, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.


ARTICLE 27. (On petition of Charles C. Peterson and Others.) To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to install sidewalks and curbings on Browning Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 28. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $50,000.00 for the construction of permanent sidewalks and curbings throughout the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 29. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for drainage in Columbian Square, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 30. (On Petition of Francis A. Gunn and Others). To see if the Town will vote to provide for the installation of a surface water drain in that section of Pleasant Street, South Weymouth, between the junction of Wilbur Street and the end of the present drainage for Columbian Square section at or about 100 Pleasant Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 31. (On Petition of Garland G. Bell and Others). To see if the Town will instruct the Annual Moderator to appoint a committee of seven veterans of World War II to meet with the Planning Board for the purpose of considering the naming of various Weymouth streets after those who made the supreme sacrifice in World War II, and that said committee report back to the Town their recommendations at the next Town Meeting, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 32. (On Petition of Harry W. Caldwell and Others). To see if the Town will vote to name plot of land at junction of Pearl and North Streets known as the Park for the late William C. Caldwell who lost his life in World War II, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 33. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to change the name of that portion of Wessagusset Road between Pilgrim Road and 45 Wessagusset Road to Wadaga Road, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 34. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to change the name of Raleigh Street in Bartlett Gardens off Union Street, or take any other action in relation thereto.


ARTICLE 35. (At Request of Planning Board). To see if the Town will vote to change the name of a private way sometimes known as Off Humphrey Street between 135 Lake Street and 47 Humphrey Street to Skelley Avenue, or take any other action in relation thereto.
