ARTICLE 36. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1800.00 to purchase property located at 161 North

ARTICLE 45. (On Petition of Cornelius M. Ahern and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 156, Section 111B of the Acts of 1945 granting sick leave to laborers of the Weymouth Street Department, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 46. (On Petition of William A. Foster and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept Chapter 638 of the Acts of 1941 being an act further regulating the hours of duty of the permanent members of fire departments in certain cities and towns, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 47. (By direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to accept Section 32 of Chapter 166 which provides for the appoint- ment of a wiring inspector by the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action in relation thereto.
GOVERNMENTAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
ARTICLE 48. (On Request of V. Leslie Hebert, Tree Warden). To see if the Town will vote to accept Chapter 87, Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 of the General Laws, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 49. (On Petition of Clarence L. Pratt and Others). To see if the Town will vote to revoke their acceptance of laws providing for ab- sent voting at regular municipal elections as provided in Chapter 118, Acts of 1946.

ARTICLE 51. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to elect the town moderator for a three year period, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 53. (On Petition of Everett E. Callahan and Others). That the Town amend its by laws by adding to Section 301 of Article 3 the fol- lowing, the active participation of any member of the Appropriation Com- mittee in any political contest or campaign either in his own interest or in the interest of any other person or political organization is expressly prohibited, except to exercise the constitutional right of voting. Any mem- ber who violates this prohibition shall immediately forfeit his membership on the said committee and the Moderator upon receiving proof of such activity shall declare the position vacant and fill the vacancy by a new appointee.
ARTICLE 54. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to change Section 404A of the Town by laws so as to read: "The salary of the Town Counsel shall cover all work performed by him except exam- inations of titles to real estate or actual appearance in court in the con- duct of litigation or before administrative boards or other tribunals and except legal work done in connection with the laying out and establishing construction, and maintenance of a sewerage system."
ARTICLE 55. (By Direction of Board of Selectmen). To see if the Town will accept a revision of the Town building code as drafted by a committee of three appointed by the Town Moderator, or take any other action in relation thereto.
SCHOOLS
ARTICLE 56. (On Petition of George E. Lane and Others). To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for the purpose of improving the Weymouth High School athletic facilities at Legion Field and for the Annie Libbey Memorial Field, or take any other action in relation thereto.
WATER DEPARTMENT
ARTICLE 57. (On Petition of Pearson F. Cazeault and Others). To see if the Town will vote to accept the water system, located in the streets on War Housing Project, Wessagusset Hill (Mass. 19052), North Weymouth, as shown on submitted plan, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.
ARTICLE 58. (On Petition of Everett E. Callahan and Others). To see if the Town will appoint a committee of five, none of whom shall be an office holder, to obtain all pertinent facts pertaining to the sale of New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Bonds in 1943 by the Board of Water Commissioners, said facts to be given at the earliest possible date to the Board of Selectmen with recommendations as to what action to take, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 59. (On Petition of Everett E. Callahan and Others). To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Water Commissioners to grant fishing licenses to fish from the shores of Weymouth Great Ponu, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 60. (On Petition of 1946 Memorial Day Committee). To see if the Town will provide funds to purchase 500 rounds of blank ammu- nition at the beginning of this fiscal year, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.
ARTICLE 61. (On Petition of Fred W. Webb, Chairman of Veterans Memorial Committee, Weymouth Post No. 79, American Legion, Inc., and Others). To see what action the Town will take to erect a Memorial Build- ing to Veterans of World War II for use of veterans of the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 62. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for a suitable celebration of the 325th Anniversary of settlement of Weymouth and the homecoming of World War II servicemen and women, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 63. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what action the Town will take on veterans housing.
ARTICLE 64. (Committee on Permanent War Memorial for World War II). To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate to provide a permanent war memorial for Veterans of World War II, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 65. (On Petition of Garland G. Bell and Others). To see if the Town will appoint a committee from the floor at the Annual Town Meeting to consist of two Town Meeting Members from each precinct. These members to meet jointly with the Weymouth Veterans Council for the purpose of discussing the recommending of the creation of a Memorial Park and Drive around the shores of Weymouth Great Pond, and further that this committee give a report on their recommendations at the Annual 1948 Town Meeting.
MISCELLANEOUS
ARTICLE 66. (On Petition of George E. Lane and Others). To see if the town will appoint a committee of five to study the financial condition of the Town and prepare a Capital Outlay Program, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 67. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Health to enter into a contract for the dis- posal of its garbage, refuse and offal and for what term of years and to see what sum of money, the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for this purpose, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 68. (On Petition of Everett E. Callahan and Others). To see if the Town will appropriate a sum sufficient to purchase proper equip- ment for the collection of garbage by the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 69. (On Petition of Everett E. Callahan and Others). To see if the Town will appropriate a sum sufficient to collect garbage by the Town for the year ending December 31, 1947, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 70. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will take over the Ashwood Cemetery, or take any other action in relation thereto.

all materials, equipment and supplies purchased for the various units of the Civilian Defense during the recent emergency and that a concise report of all purchases and their disposal be made public at their earliest con- venience.
ARTICLE 72. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $500.00 for the purpose of main- taining during the ensuing year, the mosquito control works as estimated and certified by the State Reclamation Board in accordance with the pro- visions of Chapter 112, Acts of 1931, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 73. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $200.00 to be expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen for the purpose of stocking the ponds and inland waters located within the Town limits with fish and of liber- ating game all in accordance with Gen. Laws. (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 40, Sec- tion 5, Clause 41, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 74. (Committee on Abigail Adams House). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for relocation, renovation and restoration of the Abigail Adams House, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 75. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $38,000.00 for additional office space on the third floor of the Town Hall, or take any other action in re- lation thereto.
ARTICLE 76. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate in conjunction with the State Department of Conservation for the improvement of the alewife fishery in the Town of Weymouth, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 77. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to accept the lay out of the Wessagusset Hill Project, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 80. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Moderator to appoint a committee of 3 to consider a suitable site for a future branch library building in North Weymouth, the Committee to submit a report to the Library Trustees not later than No- vember 1, 1947, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 81. (On Request of Zoning Committee). To see if the Town will accept the report of the Zoning Committee appointed at the Annual Town Meeting for the year 1946, and adopt the recommendations therein, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 82 .. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction and repair of sea walls along Wey- mouth Fore River, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 83. (On Request of Post War Planning Committee). To see what action the Town will take to continue the Post War Planning Committee or like Committee and what instructions and authority it will

ARTICLE 84. (On Petition of Nathan Sakin and Others). To see if the Town will vote to take over sewer main installed by the Federal Public Housing Authority at War Housing Project, Wessagusset Hill, North Wey- mouth, as shown on submitted plan, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 85. (On Petition of special Committee on Apportionment and Methods of Assessment of Costs of Proposed Sewerage System). To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate or appropriate from available funds for the construction, operation and maintenance of a sewerage system under the provisions of Chapter 94, Acts of 1945 and provisions of the General Laws pertaining thereto.
You are hereby required to notify and warn said inhabitants of Wey- mouth qualified to vote in Town affairs, in case all the articles in the foregoing warrant shall not have been acted upon at the meeting called for the third day of March, to meet in adjourned session at the hall of the Weymouth High School on

Pursuant to a warrant duly issued, the Annual Meeting of the inhabi- tants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by its duly elected and quali- fied Town Meeting Members was held in the hall of the Weymouth High School, East Weymouth, Monday, March 3rd, 1947.

The meeting was called to order at 7:54 o'clock in the evening by Mr. Daniel L. O'Donnell, Annual Moderator.
The attested copy of the warrant was read by Town Clerk, Chester L. Boyle.
MR. GEORGE E. LANE MOVED:
That we suspend with the reading of the articles in the warrant. UNANIMOUSLY VOTED.
Prayer was offered by the Rev. Edward Price, Rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Weymouth Landing.
Two Town Meeting Members, not having been previously sworn in to the duties of their office were duly sworn in at this time by the Moderator.

That the report of the Appropriation Committee containing its mo- tions to be offered at this meeting, as shown in the printed form be now recorded as received.

MR. FRANCIS DROWN MOVED THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT:
Item 33. For the Tufts Library and its branches and other Library purposes the sum of $42,822.25. Of this sum $3,690.00 is appropriated for the Reading Room at the Fogg Library. The income of several Trust Funds of the Town is hereby made available for Library purposes. Not more than $50. of this total appropriation may be used for expenses in- curred in travel outside the Commonwealth while securing information that may tend to improve the service of the Library.
Vote taken and the Moderator declared the Amendment carried.

To be expended under the direction of a committee of ten (10) to be ap-

The Moderator shall designate the Chairman in rotation from the several veteran and hereditary organizations, in accord- ance with the provisions of General Laws (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 40, Section 5, Clause 12 as amended, said amount to be available only in case evidence shall be filed with the Town Accountant that the known graves of the de- ceased veterans of all wars have been decorated without discrimination.

MR. SANDY ROULSTON MOVED THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT:
Item 30. For World War II allotments in accordance with Chapter 11, Acts of 1942, and the burying of indigent soldiers and sailors and Veterans' Benefits as provided by Chapter 115 as amended by Chapter 584, Acts of 1946, the sum of $46,552. Of this sum not exceeding $6,552.00 shall be for administrative expense, and not exceeding $5,252.00 shall be for personal services of the department personnel.
UNANIMOUSLY VOTED.
MR. AHERN OFFERED THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT:
Item 31. For Highway Department $184,083.00 For personal services of the salaried employees a sum not exceeding $51,906.00. Of this sum not exceeding $3,760.00 shall be for the salary of the Superintendent. For personal services of other than salaried employ- ees a sum not exceeding $71,057.00.
These additional amounts shall be used to give all employees a five cent an hour increase in base pay.
For the purchase of supplies, materials, new equipment, provided a committee of 3, one of whom shall be the Superintendent of Streets, shall be appointed by the Moderator, for these purposes the sum of $37,300.00.
Of this sum $18,300.00 shall be appropriated from Surplus for the pur- chase of three trucks and two tractors.
For all other expenses of the Department a sum not exceeding $23,750.00. Vote taken and the Moderator declared the motion LOST.
