REPORT OF THE TOWN ACCOUNTANT

East Weymouth, Mass. January 28, 1948

To the Honorable Board of Selectmen Weymouth, Massachusetts

Gentlemen:

Herewith is submitted the forty-sixth annual report of the Accounting Department. All essential facts to determine the financial status of the town are set forth in accordance with statutory requirements. Should fur- ther information be desired it may be obtained at the accounting office.

An accounting department is primarily concerned with the expendi- ture of public funds being made in accordance with the law and with recording the several transactions so that the financial status of the town may be determined at any given time.

Examinations by the Division of Accounts of the Department of Cor- porations and Taxation, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have consistently found the records and finances of the town in excellent condition. The most recent of these examinations was conducted in 1947 and the examiners' report will be found published in the annual town report in accordance with statute.

All officials charged with the expenditure of municipal funds have been most cooperative and together with the capable service of my office staff I can report a favorable financial condition at the' close of business for the year 1947.

Respectfully submitted,

EMERSON R. DIZER, Town Accountant
