ANNUAL REPORT

OF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE

OF THE

TOWN OF WILMINGTON,

FOR THE YEAR 1887.

REPORT OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The School Committee present to the town the following brief report. The year opened favorably, from the fact that we were able to employ our former teachers during the spring and summer term. Whenever visited by the Committee, and at the closing examinations, they all appeared well. If, in any instance, our schools failed to accomplish all that was desired, it was not for lack of effort on the part of the teachers. Miss Nellie B. Eames resigned her position as teacher in the Centre School at the close of the summer term. Miss Blan Alexander was appointed to fill the vacancy. This school still is quite too large. There were fifty-two names registered the fall and winter terms, and the schoolhouse one of the smallest in town. It is a wonder that a teacher accomplished as much as she did under the circumstances. Some measures must be adopted to reduce the number the spring term.
