ANNUAL REPORT

OF THE

SCHOOL COMMITTEE

OF THE

TOWN OF WILMINGTON,

FOR THE YEAR 1891-92.

44

REPORT OF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

REPORT OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The School Committee respectfully submit the following re- port :-

The year now closing has been generally satisfactory, notwith- standing several important changes in the educational force of the town.

The spring term opened with the same corps of teachers as in the term preceding. During the summer, however, vacancies occurred in the High, Grammar, and South Schools. The resig- nation of Mr. C. E. Corliss, of the Grammar school, coming early, great care was taken by the Committee to secure, if possible, a teacher of force and ability for this room, where in preparation for the High school thorough work is so essential. That their efforts were successful has been amply proved in the choice of Miss Grace P. Thomas, of Castine, Me., who has given evidence of being a teacher of more than usual promise ; her methods of teaching being the best, and her discipline above criticism, she has succeeded in securing just the results desired of her. Best of all, she has awakened in her pupils an interest in their work, and ambition to succeed in their studies ; characteristics noticeably lacking in this room previously.
