It was put to vote to see if the town would choose a man or men to commence proses


a prosie against any person or persons that shall be made to appear of taking ' said Sarah into tom and it passed in the affirmative.

At a lawful tom meeting of the freeholders and other inhabitants of the town of Andover qualified for voting at town meetings as the law directs met at the North meetinghouse on Monday the 2nd of September 1751 at 3 of the dock in the afternoon.


Capt. Timothy Johnson was chosen Moderator for said meeting.


It was put to vote to see if the town would raise the sum of money to de- fray the town's charges the year ensuing and it passed in the negative.


It was put to vote to see if the town would discontinue part of a road that leads from the Rus Meadow Bridge to the Pond Meadow Bridge and it passed in the affirmative. Viz. 2 rods wide, 40 poles ggainst Mr. Thomas Abbot's land.

At a lawful town meeting of the freeholders and other inhabitants of the town of Andover qualified for voting in town meetings as the law directs met at the North Meetinghouse in said town on Thursday the 21st day of September A.D. 1752 at 1 o'clock afternoon.

It was put to vote to see if the tom would allow 25 pounds to be disposed for the support of the reading, writing and cifering schools to be dis- posed of according to the best skill and judgmenet of the selectment and it passed in the affirmative.


It was put to vote to see if the town would raise 95 pounds to defray the unnecessary charges the year ensuing and it passed in the affirmative.

It was put to vote to see if the town will except of a road laid out beginning by the road leading, by Deacon Joseph Abbot's about 20 rods southward of said Abbot's house and it passed in the affirmative.


It was put to vote to see if the town will except of a road laid out near Nathan Frie's Woodchuck Meadow and it passed in the affirmative.

At a lawful town meeting of the freeholders and other inhabitants of the town of Andover qualified for voting at town meetings as the law directs met of at the North Meetinghouse on Monday the 20th of May at 5 the clock afternoon.


Samuel Phillips Esq. was chosen Moderator ! for said meeting.


It was put to vote to see if the town will raise any money for the support of reading, writing, and cifering schools in the outskirts of the town and it passed in the negative.


It was put to vote to see if the town dispose of the 25 pounds raised in the year 1.D. 1753 for the support of reading, righting and cifering school, which was not made use of in that year, to be applied the present year that the descression of the selectmen for the purposes for which it was raised and it passed in the affirmative.


Francis Johnson was chosen surveyor of highways instead of Nathaniel Stevens deceased for the year ensuing.


At a lawful town meeting of the freeholders and other inhabitants of the town of Andover qualified for voting at town meetings as the law directs met at the North Meetinghouse of said town on Monday the 23rd of September 1754. Capt. George Abbot was chosen Moderator for said meeting.


After the reading of that part of the excize bill relating to the Prive. consummation of of wine, rum and other spirits in this prinet(?)


province together with his 33 - Exceelencie's speech on said bill.


And after a debate on both, it was put to vote to see if the town will except of the said excize bill and it passed in the negative.


It was put to vote to see if the town will except of the latering of a road in Merrimack Woods and it passed in the affirmative.

At a lawful tom meeting of the freeholders and other inhabitants of the tom of Andover qualified for voting at town meeting as the law directs met at the North Meetinghouse of said town on Tuesday the 24th of December at 3 of the clock in the afternoon A.D. 1754.


Mr. John Johnson was chosen Moderator for said meeting.


It was put to vote to see if the town would except the 20 pounds of Benjamin Hildreth of Westford, two-thirds to be paid in 12 months and the re- mainder to be paid in 2 years for the charges the town has been and shall be at in supporting of a bastard child born of Unis Wiles February last and to free said Hildreth from anymore charges in supporting said child and it passed in the affirmative.

Voted that the money raised for the support of schooling in the out- skirts of the town be disposed of by the discretion of the selectmen.


It was put to vote to see if the sum or sums of money the town will raise to defray the other charge arising in the town the year ensuing and voting to raise the sum of 35 pounds for the purposes abovesaid.


It was put to vote to see if the tom will mend their highways as in the years past and it passed in the affirmative; then voted that each person shall work out their highway in the methods following, viz: a man at 2 per day; a yoake of oxen at 1 per day; and a cart at 1 per day.

And it was put to vote to see if the town would vote for county treasurer and it passed in the affirmative.


It was put to vote to see if the tom will use the remainder of the 25 pounds that was raised in 1753 for the use of schooling in the town shall be approbated for the use of schooling in the same method as it has been in years past and it passed in the affirmative.

It was put to vote to see if the tom would discontinue a road leading from the Widow Abigail Rockwell's to John Cumming's and it passed in the af- firmative.

At a lawful town meeting of the freeholders and other inhabitants of the tom of Andover qualified for voting at town meetings as the law directs met at the North Meetinghouse on Monday the 22nd of September at afternoon A. D. 1755. Samuel Phillips Esq. was chosen Moderator for said meeting.


Capt. Joseph Austin was chosen Town Treasurer the tom instead of Capt. Abiel Frie who is gon into the country service.


At a lawful annual town meeting off the freeholders and other inhabitants of the town of Andover qualified for voting at twon meetings as the law di- rects met at the North Meetinghouse of said town on Monday the 1st of March at 9 a clock forenoon A.D. 1756.


Samuel Phillips Esq. was chosen Moderator for said meeting. Joshua Frye was chosen Town Clerk for the year ensuing.


Then said meeting was adjourned to Friday next 5th of March time at 19 a clock forenoon and then met.

It was put to vote to see what sum of money the town will raise to de- fray the charge of the grammar schools the year ensuing and voted to raise the sum of 35 pounds for the purposes abovesaid.

It was put to vote to see if the town will accept of a town way laid out 80 by Thomas Chandler to Deacon Walcot's and/to Reading Line and it passed in the affirmative.


It was put to vote to see if the town would accept of a road leading by Daniel Colbey's to the road leading by Timothy Farnum's and it passed in the negative.

It was voted that the constabels for the year 1755 be allowed something moar for their service and voted that each constabel be allowed 20 shilings out of the town's money for their service as constabels for the said year and then the meeting was dissolved.


At a lawful meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Andover convened at the North Meetinghouse in said town on Tuesday the 30th day of November 1756.


Deacon John Farnum was chosen Moderator for said meeting.


Thomas Abbot was chosen temporary Clerk for said meeting.


It was voted to cept of the men whose names were laid before the town selectmen for jurors.

Voted that there be raised 35 pounds to defray the charges of the gramer xchools for the year ensuing.


It was put to vote to see if the town will raise any sum or sums of money to provid righting schools for the outskirts of the tom and it passed in the affirmative.


Voted to raise the sum of 15 pounds to defray the charges of righting schools in the outskirts of the town the year ensuing.


Voted to raise 120 pounds to defray the town charges the year ensuing.


Voted that the highways should be mended as in years past, viz: for each man 2 shillings per day, 1 shilling per day for each yoake of oxen, and 1 shilling per day for each cart and voted there raise to 130 pounds be worked out as above set forth.

It was put to vote to see if the tom would vote for a county treasurer and it passed in the affirmative.


Voted that the constabels for the year 1756 be allowed 12 shillings each for his service as constabel.


It was put to vote to see if the town would except of a town way from the road that leads from Capt. John Foster's to Lt. Nathan Chandler's to Little Hope through the land that was Thomas Chandler's Great Division now in the possession of Mr. Asa Foster and it passed in the affirmative.
