WARRANT FOR MEETING NOVEMBER 14th, 1898.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Melrose, in the County of Middlesex : GREETING.
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify the inhabitants of the town of Melrose, qualified to vote in elections and town affairs, to meet at the town hall, on Monday, the fourteenth day of November, A. D. 1898, at 7.30 o'clock p. m., then and there to act on the following articles, viz .:
Article I. To choose a moderator.
Art. 2. To see if the town will authorize the treasurer to pay all necessary expenses which may be incurred from January Ist, 1899, in anticipation of the annual appropria- tions, and authorize him to borrow money temporarily for the same if necessary, by request of the treasurer.
Art. 3. To see if the town will authorize the treasurer to receive from the administrator of the estate of John Warren, late of Melrose, deceased, such sum or sums as may be in his hands, on account of the claim of the town of Melrose against the estate of said Warren, and hold said adminis- trator harmless by reason of his making payment thereof prior to the expiration of two years from the time of his appointment. On petition of the overseers of poor.
Art. 4. To see if the town will reconsider the vote passed October 3d, 1898, wherein the town voted to petition the general court for a city charter, and act thereon. On petition of A. V. Lynde and others.

Art. 7. To hear and act upon the report of the committee appointed by the town to report upon the subject of addi- tional compensation for the Melrose men in the Spanish- American war, and to authorize the town treasurer to borrow money to carry out the vote of the town. By request of the committee.
Art. 8. To see if the town will accept the following street as laid out by the selectmen :
Beginning at a point on Richardson road about 200 feet north of the junction of Richardson road and Alpine street and running northerly about 350 feet to the Wakefield line, and when said street is accepted that it be called Renwick road.
Art. 9. To see if the town will accept the laying out of certain main drains or common sewers, as laid out for public use by the sewer commissioners, as provided in Chapter 50, Section 2, of the Public Statutes, as amended by the Acts of 1895, Chapter 423, Section 24, in the following courts and private ways, viz. :
Oliver court, from Vine street southerly over land of Mary E. Oliver. Franklin street, northerly to Botolph street, across land of Chester Shepard, W. S. B. Maine, and George W. Crawford.
Art. 10. To see if the town will accept the jury list as revised by the selectmen.
Art. II. To see if the town will appoint a finance com- mittee for the ensuing year.
