Mail Carriage Axles,
With Long or Patent Short Bolts. Also, HALF-PATENT AND TAPER AXLES, With Collinge's Collars and Bright Iron or Brass Nuts,
HASTINGS, on the Hudson River, New York.
The following testimonial, with which W. H. Saunders has been favored by the gentlemen whose names are appended thereto, certifies the estimation in which Saunders' Axles are held by the most respectable carriage makers in New York and vicinity :-
" NEW YORK, APRIL, 1852.
The undersigned, carriage makers, of New-York and vicinity, having for many years used axels of W. H. Saunders' manufacture, for the best class of carriages, recommend the same to the public, with full confidence, as THE BEST CARRIAGE AXELS MADE IN THE UNITED STATES, and superior to any imported. Thomas Durning, Yorkville."
W. H. S. was the orignal introducer of the favorite Mail Axel into the United States, and its first manufacturer. He is also the author of every improvement on it, which has successfully stood the severe proof of Third Avenue practice. His patented improvements on the Mail Axel, after hav- ing been extensively tested, are superceding the older forms. His Patent Axels were preferred and used for the magnificent carriages presented to the President of the United States and to the Hon. Daniel Webster; and have always been awarded the first premium when exhibited for competition, as was the case at the last State Fair at Rochester, and at the last Exhibition of the American Institute at Castle Garden.
These Axles can be obtained of Mr. BROWNELL, or Mr. WHITE, Carriage Makers, New Bedford.
