Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the inhabitants of the Town of Wayland met this day and did the follow- ing business.
Article 1. To hear the reports of Town Officers, agents and committees, and act thereon.
Mr. William J. Scotland gave a report of progress in behalf of the Committee on Hospital.
Voted to accept the Finance Committee's Report with recommendations and amendments.
Mr. John H. Knapp gave a report in behalf of the Committee to investigate the employment of another teacher in Wayland High School who should offer courses in Vocational education.
Voted to accept all other reports.
Article 2. To choose all necessary Town Officers, agents and committees, not elected by official ballot.
John Connelly, Isaac Damon and Howard W. Parmen- ter were elected Trustees of the Allen Fund.
Voted that the Selectmen act as Fence Viewers.
Voted that the Constables act as Field Drivers.
Frank Haynes, Melville Loker, William S. Lovell, Israel A. Lupien and Arthur F. Marston were elected Surveyors of Lumber.
Arthur W. Atwood, Joseph Decatur, William S. Lov- ell, Israel A. Lupien and Arthur F. Marston were elected Measurers of Wood and Bark.

Voted to appropriate and assess the sums of money enumerated in the Finance Committee's Report with an addition of $1000 for repairs and painting outside of the Town Hall, $150 for Tree Warden, $2000 for Expenses of Public Welfare, $2250 for School Department, $2500 for Highways and Bridges, $500 Snow Removal and $281.67 for Unpaid Bills, 1928, and a reduction of $3000 in the Water Department, and to adopt the recommendations therein contained. Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to bor- row money in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year.
Voted that the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is, authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1929; to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under the foregoing to be paid from the revenue of the said financial year.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow a sum of money not exceeding $8,000.00 in anti- cipation of reimbursement from the State and County on account of oiling and repairing State controlled roads.

Article 8. To see if the Town will accept the follow- ing gift: $200 received from the Estate of George F. Marston, to establish the "George F. Marston Fund," in- come from which to be used for perpetual care of George F. Marston Lot No. 44, section B, Lake View Cemetery.

Article 9. To see if the Town will accept the follow- ing gift: $200 received from Mrs. Nellie J. Draper to es- tablish the "Paul T. Draper Fund," income from which to be used for perpetual care of Paul T. Draper Lot No. 29, North Cemetery.

Article 10. To see if the Town will accept the follow- ing gift : $100 received from Mrs. Dana Elkins to establish the "Ainsley Dunham Fund" income from which to be used for perpetual care of Lot No. 15, section E, Lake View Cemetery.
Voted unanimously to accept the foregoing bequest.
Article 11. To see if the Town will appoint a Com- mittee consisting of the School Committee and two other members to be appointed by the Moderator to make a thorough investigation in regard to the housing problem of the School and report at the next town meeting.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $300 or some other amount, and elect a director, the money to be expended by and the di- rector to serve in cooperation with the Middlesex County Trustees for County Aid to Agriculture in the work of Middlesex Conty Extension Service under the provision of sections 40-45, Chapter 128, General Laws of Massa- chusetts.
Voted that Mr. John J. Erwin act as Director in co- operation with the work of the Middlesex County Exten-

sion Service.
Article 13. To see if the Town will authorize the Fire Department to sell a wagon no longer in use.
Voted unanimously the Selectmen act as a Committee to sell a wagon no longer in use.
Article 14. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess an additional sum of money for the erection of a building for the housing of the Highway Department equipment.

Article 15. To see if the Town will appoint a Com- mittee of three citizens to serve as a Committee on Town Forest, or do or act.

Article 16. To see if the Town will authorize its Committee on Town Forest to accept such land as may be offered to be used for the purpose of a Town Forest, or do or act.

Article 17. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 82, Section 37, of the General . Laws and amendments thereto, providing for the estab- lishment of building lines, or do or act.

Article 18. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of providing a survey of the Town, or any part thereof, as a beginning toward a Town Plan, or do or act.

Article 19. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money for the relocation and reconstruc- tion of Concord Road from the Town Hall to Plain Street, according to plans to be recommended by the County En- gineers, or do or act.
Voted that there be appropriated the sum of $6000

for the purpose of relocating and reconstructing Concord Road from the Town Hall to Plain Street, said sum to be used with sums allotted by the State and County for said purpose, and that the sum herein appropriated be assessed in the tax levy of the current year.
Article 20. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk on Concord Road from the Library sidewalk to the driveway of Mrs. Florence Hynes, and for the neces- sary widening of the travelled way at Mr. Goodell's curve, or do or act.
Voted No.
Article 21. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of extending the sidewalk on the northerly side of Pond Street East to School Street, beginning at the ending of the present tar sidewalk, or do or act.
Voted that the sum of not exceeding $1800 be ap- propriated and assessed for the extension of the sidewalk on the Northerly side of Pond Street East toward School Street beginning at the end of the present tar sidewalk and that the money be expended and the work done under the supervision of the Selectmen and the Planning Board.
Article 22. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money not exceeding $2000 for the pur- pose of painting and redecorating the Library, or do or act.
Voted that the Town appropriate and assess a sum of money not exceeding $2000 for the purpose of painting and redecorating the Library, under the direction of the Trustees of the Library.

Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to extend an eight-inch water main with necessary fire hydrants, gates and fittings, connecting at Clay Pit Hill Road and continuing along Concord Road to the Lincoln Town line, a distance of two and two-tenths miles, and to appropriate, grant, borrow or otherwise provide a sum of money not exceeding $23,000 to pay for the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted that a Committee consisting of the Water Commissioners, Board of Selectmen and George A. Hill be

and it hereby is authorized to extend an eight-inch water main with the necessary fire hydrants, gates, fittings, etc., on Concord Road from the present system at Clay Pit Hill Road to the Lincoln Line and to let the necessary contract therefor at a cost not exceeding $23,000 and that payment of the cost thereof be made as far as possible from the funds available in the hands of the Harvard Trust Company from the Parmenter Fund, that the sum of $3,000 be appropriated and assessed in part payment and that the balance be borrowed and that the Town Treasurer be and he hereby is authorized to borrow said balance and issue Town Notes therefor payable serially over not to exceed fifteen years.

Article 24. To see if the Town will vote to extend a six-inch water main with fire hydrants, gates and fittings, along the following described roads: from Concord Road along Sherman's Bridge Road to Sherman's Bridge, a dis- tance of seven-tenths of a mile and from Concord Road along Lincoln Road to the residence of Sidney Stone, a distance of four-tenths of a mile and thence from Lincoln Road along Hazelbrook Road and Glezen Road to the resi- dence of Neal Cox, a distance of four-tenths of a mile, and to grant, appropriate, borrow or otherwise provide a sum of money not exceeding $17,235, to pay for the same or take any action relative thereto.
Voted that a Committee consisting of the Water Commissioners, Board of Selectmen and George A. Hill be and it hereby is authorized to extend a six-inch water main with necessary fire hydrants, gates, fittings, etc., from Concord Road along Sherman's Bridge Road to Sher- man's Bridge, along Hazelbrook Lane or Road, Lincoln Road and Glezen Road to the residences of Sidney Stone and Neal Cox, and to let the necessary contract therefor at a cost of not exceeding $17,000, and that the Town Treasurer be and he hereby is authorized to borrow said $17,000 and issue Town Notes therefor payable serially over not to exceed fifteen years.
Vote Unanimous.
Article 25. To see if the Town will vote to extend an eight-inch water main with necessary fire hydrants, gates, and fittings connecting the force main at or near Cochi-

tuate Road and continuing westerly along Old Connecticut Path one and one-tenth miles to the water main near In- dian Road, and to grant, appropriate, borrow or otherwise provide a sum of money not exceeding $11,500 to pay for the same, or take any action relative thereto.
- Voted that a Committee consisting of the Water Com- missioners, Board of Selectmen and George A. Hill be and it hereby is authorized to extend an eight-inch main with necessary fire hydrants, gates, fittings, etc., on Old Connecticut Path from the present system at or near Cochituate Road westerly along said Old Connecticut Path to the present water main near Indian Road, and to let the necessary contract therefor at a cost of not exceeding $11,500 and that the Town Treasurer be and he hereby is authorized to borrow said $11,500 and issue Town Notes therefor payable serially over a period not to exceed fif- teen years.

Article 26. To see if the Town will indemnify the Commonwealth of Massachusetts against any and all claims for land, grade and drainage damages which may be caused by or result from the laying out alteration, con- struction or reconstruction of the State Highway known as State Road East and State Road West or any section cr relocation thereof, and will authorize the Board of Se- lectmen to sign an indemnity agreement therefor in be- half of the Town, and make an appropriation therefor, or take any other action with respect thereto.
Voted unanimously to pass over the Article.

"Resolved that it is the sense of this meeting that the Town of Wayland does not view with favor the proposed construction of a wider, high speed State Highway through the center of the Town; and we, the inhabitants in town meeting assembled, petition the Board of Public Works of the Commonwealth to give further considera- tion to this question and to other possible locations before authorizing any permanent reconstruction."

Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the inhabitants of the Town of Wayland met this day and did the follow- ing business.
Article 1. To see if the Town will raise and appro- priate an additional sum of money for necessary operating expenses for the water department same to be transferred from any available surplus funds or act anything in relation thereto.
Voted unanimously that there be raised and appro- priated the sum of $2,410.57 and to meet said appropria- tion there be transferred from the unexpended balance of the Water Department from 1928 the sum of $2,410.57.
Article 2. To see if the Town will raise and appro- priate an additional sum for necessary expenses for the Board of Public Welfare same to be transferred from overlay surplus or other available surplus funds.
Voted unanimously that there be raised and appro- priated the sum of $2000 for necessary expenses for the Board of Public Welfare and to meet said appropriation there be transferred from the overlay surplus the sum of $961.89 and from the surplus revenue the sum of $1,038.11.
Article 3. To see if the Town will raise and appro- priate the sum of $1,264.20 to pay unpaid bills of 1928

Voted that a committee of five be appointed consist- ing of the School Committee and two others to be ap- pointed from the floor and that they be authorized to em- ploy an architect to prepare plans and estimates for a new High School Building and further to secure options on land for a site : that they report at the next annual meet- ing.

Article 6. To see if the Town will appropriate from the excess fund. a sum not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1000) for the purpose of employing an architect to draw plans for the building of the new High Schoolhouse in the Town of Wayland, or do or act.
Voted that there be raised and appropriated the sum of $1000 for the purpose of employing an architect to draw plans for the building of the new High Schoolhouse and to meet said appropriation there be transferred from surplus revenue the sum of $1000.
Article 7. To see if the Town will authorize the Board of Water Commissioners to extend the water serv- ice on Lincoln Road from the residence of J. S. Stone towards the Lincoln line and to pay therefor not to exceed three thousand dollars, the same to be taken from the available balance of the appropriation made at the annual Town Meeting, March 6, 1929, for the extension of water mains on said Lincoln Road, Concord Road and elsewhere in said Town, or do or act.
Voted not to refer the matter to the Water Board to investigate and report at the annual town meeting.

Voted that the Town authorize the Board of Water Commissioners to extend the water service on Lincoln Road from the residence of J. S.
