Article 19. £ Motion by Edward Osterholm, and unani- mously voted that a committee be appointed to look into the advisability of a new fire station, or for repair of the old one, and that the sum of $100.00 be raised and appropriated for the purpose of getting blue prints or any other expenses that this committee may incur.
Further recommended and unanimously voted that the above mentioned committee consist of the following: Arthur W. Washburn, George Hayes, Wesley Burton, Chief of the Fire Department, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, and Morey G. Day.
Article 20. Motion by Henry S. Tamblyn, and unani- mously voted that the sum of $390.00 be raised and appro- priated for the purpose of providing heat in the new toilets recently installed in the High School and Town Hall Buildings.
Article 21. Motion by Edward Osterholm and unani- mously voted that the sum of $192.00 be raised and appro- priated for payment of $58.20 gravel bill, $122.38 snow re- moval, and $11.42 for Town Hall.
Article 22. Motion by Edward Osterholm, and unani- mously voted that the sum of $40.00 be raised and appro- priated for the payment of land damages due to Abraham Mayberg for the year 1926.
Article 23. Motion by Earle F. Barney, and unanimously voted that the sum of $1,850.00 be raised and appropriated for the purpose of repairing and painting the High School building and Town Hall building.
Article 24. Motion by Earle F. Barney, and unanimously voted that the sum of $500.00 be raised and appropriated for the maintenance of Chapter 90 roads.
Article 25. Motion by Edward E. Osterholm, and unani- mously voted that the sum of $501.51 be transferred from the Overlay Surplus Account to the Extraordinary and Unforeseen Reserve Account.

The Nominating Committee appointed this morning pre- sented the following names to act as Finance and Advisory Committee for the ensuing year: Lee R. Higgins, Albert Morse, Leslie Young, Arthur Mathewson, and Rufus King. Motion by Arthur W. Washburn and unanimously voted that this Committee serve as Finance and Advisory Committee for the ensuing year.
Motion by Edward Osterholm and unanimously voted that the sum of $2,000.00 be transferred from the Surplus Revenue Account to be used by the Assessors to reduce the Tax Rate.
The Committee on hurricane damage to the trees reported their findings and recommended that fifteen trees be set out each year for the five year period, the location and the super- vision be left to the tree warden. The report was accepted and it was unanimously voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $50.00 for the use of this committee.
Motion by William H. Nash, and unanimously voted to adjourn at 9:15 P. M.

PROCEEDINGS OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
A special Town Meeting was held in the Town Hall, Plainville, Tuesday evening, May 2, 1940.
Meeting called to order by Moderator William H. Nash at 7:30 P. M., 35 present.
Harry Thompson explained the cost of the different size pipe that might be used in installing the water on Grove Street.
Albert Morse reported for the Finance Committee that they recommended the passage of the Article.
Mr. Osterholm made a motion and it was unanimously voted that we accept and lay out Grove Street, from East Bacon Street to School Street, and raise and appropriate the sum of $250.00 to pay for same, this amount to be expended under the direction of the Highway Department.

Harry Thompson made a motion and it was unanimously voted that we extend the water mains on Grove Street from East Bacon to School Street and raise and appropriate the sum of $1,250.00 for same.
Mr. Osterholm reported that the Finance Committee had received a release from all land owners of damages against the Town for land taken for this extension of Grove Street.

A Special Town Meeting was held in the Town Hall, Thursday evening, June 6, 1940.
Meeting called to order by Moderator William H. Nash at 7:30 P. M.
Town Clerk read the Warrant, 29 voters present.
Mr. Osterholm reported for the Finance Committee that they recommended rejection of the Article.
Mr. Osterholm made a motion that the meeting reject the Article but his motion was voted down.
Mr. Osterholm then made a motion to adjourn but that also was voted down.
Motion by Mr. Bucklin and unanimously voted that the Town install electric lights on Berry Street from South Street to the Wrentham line and raise and appropriate the sum of $75.00, this being the amount necessary to pay for same for balance of year.
Voted to adjourn at 7:45 P. M.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the legal voters of the Town of Plainville to meet in Town Hall, in said Plainville, on
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5th, 1940
at 6 o'clock A. M., it being the Tuesday after the first Monday in said month, then and there to give their votes for the fol- lowing offices :
For Presidential Electors.
Governor for this Commonwealth.
Lieutenant Governor for this Commonwealth.

Auditor for this Commonwealth.
Attorney General for this Commonwealth.
Senator in Congress for this Commonwealth.
Representative in Congress for 14th Congressional Dis- trict.
Councillor for First Councillor District.
Senator for First Bristol Senatorial District.
One Representative in General Court for Ninth Norfolk Representative District.
Clerk of Courts for Norfolk County.
Register of Deeds for Norfolk District.
Two County Commissioners for Norfolk County.
And also to vote "yes" or "no" on the following questions:
1. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of all alcoholic beverages (whisky, rum, gin, malt beverages, wines and all other alcoholic beverages) ?
2. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of wines and malt beverages (wines and beer, ale and all other malt beverages) ?
3. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of all alcoholic beverages in packages, so called, not to be drunk on the premises ?
4. Shall the Senator from this district be instructed to vote for the establishment of a lottery to be conducted by the Commonwealth, the net proceeds of which shall provide addi- tional revenue for the Old Age Assistance Fund?
5. Shall the Senator from this district be instructed to vote for legislation providing for ten dollar weekly payments to each recipient of old age assistance ?

The polls will be open from 6 A. M. to 8 P. M.
And you are directed to serve this Warrant by posting attested copies thereof seven days at least before the time of said meeting as directed by vote of the town.
Hereof fail not and make due return of this Warrant with your doing thereon at the time and place of said meeting.

The State Election was held in the Town Hall, Plainville, Tuesday, November 5, 1940.

The above having been appointed by the Selectmen were duly sworn to the faithful performance of their respective duties by the Town Clerk.
The Ballot Box was inspected, found empty and locked by the Town Clerk, and the key turned over to the Police Officer.
