It is ordered that at ye Generall Towne meeting on ffebr yearly, at ye beginning of ye meeting next after ye choise of Moderator there shall be chosen a Committee of two able psons to examen ye acots that ye Select men bring in about publike charges that concerne this Towne before the Select men are dismissed theire places & so to pfect theire aco's according to righteousness that ye Towne may understand True estate one way or other: what they owe or what is oweing them.

Whereas divers offences arise, thorough defective ffences & different app'hensions Concerning ye Sufficiency of fences betwixt pprietors It is therefore ordered that all outside ffences about meddows or Cornfeilds shall be substantially fenced, either wth 5 railes, or Posts & Pales: or ditch foure foote & halfe broad wth hedge on it, or otherwise according to ye Judgment & sattisfaction of ye veiwers, & that all pti- tionall fences between lot & lot shall be ordered by ye Select men in case of ye disagreemt of ye pprietors & in case any damadge arise to others by ye defect of fences, the pty whose fence is defective shal pay all damadges according as they shall be adjudged by ye Select men or any deputed by them upon Complaint from any dammadged.

water penning up & flowing of theire meddows: for Preven- tion whereoff for future & in psecution of ye fore mentioned orders. & according to an order made in December 1656: It is further ordered That henceforward yearly. the severall In- habitants or pprietors of ye meddows from Mr Pynchons meddow downe to Henry Burts, shall keepe a good & suffi- cient ditch well cleared for ye free & ready passadge of water. for wch end every pson the bredth of his meddow, (& from 6 or 8 rod up ye meddow betwixt Mr Pynchon & Mr Holyoke) shal once every yeare sometime in May Scowre & cleare theire sd ditches or water Passadges of Sand, dirt, wood, or any rubbish, So yt ye water may have free Passadge away uthout penning up to flow ye meddows: And this to be at- tended at such tyme in May yearely as that it may be done by the last day of May on penalty of [I-188] every pson neg- lecting to Pay five shillings to ye Towne Treasurer, if not done yearly by ye tyme, & that sufficiently cleared acording as shall be allowed of by Two of ye Select men appointed by ye rest : Every pson to attend it when ye water shalbe turned away fot yt end, by those that live uppermost or by agreemt of ye Major pt: & in case it shal be found undone after ye first weeke in June every pson whose ditch or water Passadge is not then sufficiently cleared shall besides ye first five shillings aforesd pay Three shillings four pence p weeke till ye worke be fully done to Sattisfaction of ye two Select men apointed, all wych Penaltys shall be duly Levied by ye Constable pd in to ye Towne Treasurer: The Select men appointed for this yeare to se this done & to Judge of ye Sufficient clensing of ye water Passadge are Serjant Morgan & Benj Parsons.
