There being certayne persons chosen & appoynted to con- sider of the necessitous Condition of some familyes in ye Plantation. The Said Persons did at this prsent meeting make report how they apprehended things & did declare that they fynd need for the raising of 4 or 5£ to help a little agt the want of some familyes: And the Town did mutually ag- gree yt there shalbe a contribution called for the next Lords day to endeavor to rayse such a summe for ye end aforesd: And for the distribution of what shalbe Soe gathered It is left to ye discretion of Deacon Chapin George Colton & Ben- jamin Cooley to doe therein as they See cause:


At the said Town Meeting it is further mutually aggreed by the Inhabitants yt whereas It is found yt James Osborne doth prjudice him self & his family by disadvantageous bar- gaynes It is therefore voted & concluded yt none of ye In- habitants of this Town shall or will make any bargayne with Je said James Osborne without consent of 2 or 3 of ye Select men yt shall amount to above Jos vallue: And that all such bargaynes with him shalbe voyd:

In reference to high wayes the Inhabitants that live on the West side of ye great River declaring that there is great ne- cessity of making & amending their high wayes: It was by the Inhabitants in gen'll concluded & aggreed y' those of ye Inhabitants yt dwell on yt side of ye River shall make & re- paire their own highwayes for this yeere ensuing: In refer- ence whereunto: There is remitted to them a dayes work (of each of those Inhabitants) of their working at ye County way on ye East side of the River. Provided their dayes works of each man be bestowed & spent in working at their own high wayes:


And in reference to such high wayes as are now private & not reckoned as the County wayes, but are to be repayred or made by particular Companyes The Town now doth appoynt certayne psons of ye said company as Overseers of ye works of such pticular wayes. Each one of wch psons shall have power to call the Severall psons yt belong to y' own company to the workes of their own high wayes


And it is further declared yt if any pson shall have made such alteration exchanges or sales of land: that they have noe land to wch such pticular wayes doe lead yt then such psons shall not be called to such wayes to work but such psons as are ye prsent owners of such lands upon weh such al- terations have been made from tyme to tyme

Pringridays & W Brooke the 35 or 40 acres of Towne Land in chickkupy plaine on ye west side of ye greate River, for the Tearme & space of Seven yeares fro: this prsent 8th day of ffebr 1668: upon ye Tearmes hereafter mentioned, viz John Bagg: Edm Pringridays & IVm Brooke have free Liberty for Impvement of ye aforesd land to theire best advantage by plowing planting sowing & Mowing or breaking up any of ye New ground pvided they do not breake up any of ye meddow or Mowing Ground, wch they are noe ways to deface, but carefully to prserve all ye Mowing land for Hay: They are likewise to take care of ye fences belonging to this land, & carefully to repaire it, All ye fence wch from or for this land aforesd belongs to ye Com- mon ffeilds, wch they are sufficiently to repaire fro. tyme to tyme for ye Security of ye ffeild fro: all or any damadge; And are likewise to leave the whole fence in good & sufficient re- paire at ye end of theire aforesd Seven yeares: And for Rent the sd John Bagg Edm Pringridays & Wm Brooke, all as one party, are to allow or pay yearly the Rent or Sum of Seven Pounds Ten shillings p annum, they are yearly to pay in to ye Select Townsmen fro: tyme to tyme: And that upon or before ye first day of January yearly, one halfe in good mer- chantable wheate & the other halfe in Pease & Indian Corne, all good & merchantable: only for this prsent yeare 110w Coming in regard the fence is out of repaire & one acre & halfe of ye afore let land being Sowne wth winter wheate wych is reserved, they are to allow but seven pounds, for this yeare, And in case by the mere hand of Gods pvidence Inevitably blasting theire crop the land afore let Shall yeild but little wheate, in such case if they doe pcure 2 or 3 of ye Select men Sometime in July, or ye beginning of August at furtherest to veiw & take notice of such Blast, they shal then be abated of theire Rent such yeare, as ye sd select men shall Judge meete, always pvided they have Planted or sowne a consid- erable pt of ye land at least halfe wth other granine then

Anthony Dorchester having a psell of Land granted him in Chikkuppy Plaine on ye west side of ye grt River at the back end or reer end of ye land Somt called Miles Murwins lot, wch grant was many yeares since, & he hath Posessed it & Impved it severall yeares, & yet the Record of it thorough some neglect is not to be found, The sd land is now con- firmed to him viz sixe or seven acres, Robert Ashly his land lying on ye Northside of it, & Miles Morgans land on ye South.


Obadiah Miller having 20 acrs of land Granted him at Ashkanuncksit in ffebr 6, 1664, wch was never laid out, & he desiring ye place may be altered, and it may ly at block bridge brooke: His desire is granted, And ye sd Twenty acrs of land he is to have it on ye west side of his other land there: & hereby yt grant at Ashkanunksit is void.

This Penalty being thought a little to high & yt ye neglect if psecuting ye sd or- (ler is occasioned by ye grtnes of ye Penalty: It is Therefore ordered yt the Penalty for Swine above 3 Mo. old in med- (lows Pastures orchards & gardens or Inclosed ffeilds shall henceforth be but 8d a peice for being unrung one halfe to ye Informer & ye other halfe to the Towne & in case swine yt Doe ordinarily keepe in ye woods shall by accident get into Inclosed ffeilds in such cases to pay but 3d a pce as those are to doe yt goe on ye Comons, unless it be knowne yt they have got a haunt of lying about ye Towne or about inclosed feilds: & in all other respects the former order about swine to stand good, only whereas by sd order Swine may goe at Liberty till ye 25th of March: It is now ordered That it shall be left to ye Select men fro yeare to yeare to shorten the tyme if ye earlyness of ye Spring req it:
