For Town General Aid we received the following re- imbursements: State-$4,441.15; Cities and Towns- $5,127.44; cancelled checks-$827.65, making the net cost to the Town of Milford $29,229.81.

This expenditure included payments of $597.86 for Disability Assistance, a new category of assistance which opened November 1, 1951. As there was no appropria- tion for this assistance the law provided the use of General Welfare funds for the remainder of the fiscal year 1951.

The majority of these cases so far have been trans- fers from General Relief. On all cases accepted by the State Department there will be a 75% reimbursement from the State and Federal Government, plus a 75% reimbursement for administration costs.

WELFARE PHYSICIAN'S REPORT

Department of Public Welfare Milford, Mass.

Gentlemen :

I respectfully submit the following report of my duties as Town Physician for the period extending from January 1951 to January 1952.

As Town Physician I made eighty-five calls to the

228

Town Infirmary to examine, treat, or transfer inmates to other institutions.

In addition to my duties at the Town Infirmary, I had ninety office visits from patients who are at the In- firmary or who receive welfare benefits.

Patients who receive welfare benefits were visited at various rest homes in the community.

I wish to express my appreciation for the cordial relations and the cooperation extended to me by Mr. Ahearn, and other members of the staff of the Depart- ment of Welfare.

I wish also to commend Mr. and Mrs. Ebbeling for the very excellent manner in which they have conducted the affairs of the Infirmary.

Very truly yours,

G. S. NOSSIFF, M.D.
