The Treasurer's accounts are correct and I found on file all necessary orders of the Selectmen for money paid out.
The Town owes one note of $5,000.00 for temporary loan, due April 1st, 1928, also eight notes of $2,000.00 each, one note due each year, for the new school building.
I have examined the Collector's accounts and find they are correct. The outstanding taxes have been verified by a notice sent postpaid to each delinquent, stating the amount of tax due and a request that the Auditor be noti- fied at once if not correct.

Auditor.

ANNUAL REPORT
LIBRARY BASEMENT REPORT
Your trustees are pleased to report, that due to the inter- est of the librarian, the circulation of books has increased during the past year.
The library has received a valuable addition to its shelves. Mr. Levi Crane, a native of Berkley, has presented the library with a number of interesting books including Civil War records and a history of Berkley in earlier days.
Mr. Crane, gave also his uniform, gun and other equip- ment used during the Civil War. The trustees are plan- ning to purchase a case in which these mementos will be preserved.
It seems to us that Mr. Crane's contribution should be the beginning of a record of Berkley's early days and the history of her first families.
We welcome any mementos of these days and will guard them carefully that they may remain intact for the use of future generations.
Berkley has much to be proud of in her share of the his- tory of Massachusetts and the Union and for the sake of the present and future generations we urge you to help us to unearth these records and mementos and make them the property of the town.
Let us thank Mr. Crane for his generosity and show our appreciation of his gift by enlarging our store of records and treasures.
