WARRANT FOR TOWN MEETING:
NORFOLK, S.S.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Braintree:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are re- quired to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town of Braintree qualified to vote in elections and town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Braintree, on Monday, the second day of March next, at 9 o'clock in the forenoon, to act on the following articles, namely :-
1st. To choose a Moderator, to preside at said meeting.
2d. To hear the reports of the several town officers, and act thereon.
3d. To determine the manner of repairing the highways, town- ways and bridges the ensuing year.
4th. To choose all necessary town officers for the year ensuing.
5th. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the expenses of the town for the ensuing year, and make appropria- tions of the same.
6th. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to borrow such sums of money as the Selectmen may direct.
7th. To see if the town will accept the Jury List as made by the Selectmen.
8th. To see if the town will vote an appropriation of one hundred and fifty dollars, and pay the same to the General Sylvanus Thayer Post, Grand Army of the Republic, for the purpose of assisting them in defraying the expenses of memorial services on Decoration day.
9th. To see if the town will discontinue as a public way a part of North Street, from a point near the house of Moses Hunt, on West Street, to its junction with Granite Street.
10th. To see if the town will authorize the Selectmen to remove and rearrange the fences and walls upon the north side of the town lands, and build such additional wall or fence as in their judgment may be necessary, and raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be deemed necessary for that purpose.

11th. To see if the town will take any action relating to the drainage of the town lands, and raise and make such appropriations thereof as may be necessary.
12th. To see if the town will make an appropriation of two hundred dollars towards defraying the expenses of dedicating the Soldiers Monument.
13th. To see if the town will accept the provisions of chapter one hundred and seventy-four of the acts of the year eighteen hun- dred and sixty-six, and of chapter two hundred and seventy-six of the act of the year eighteen hundred sixty-eight, as provided for in chapter one hundred and sixty-nine of the acts of the year eighteen hundred and sixty-nine.
14th. To see if the town will raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to provide proper buildings and equip- ments for the Fire Department.
15th. To choose and hear the report of any Committee and act thereon.
You are to give notice of this meeting by posting true and attested copies of this warrant at the usual public places in town, seven days at least, before the time of said meeting.
Hereof, fail not, and make due returns of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, before the time of said meeting.
Given under our hands, at Braintree, this eighteenth day of Feb- ruary, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four.

Of the 47 marriages, 14 males and 9 females were of foreign birth.
The eldest male married was 54 years.
The eldest female married was 39 years.
The youngest male married was 19 years.
The youngest female married was 15 years.
Of the 86 births, 43 fathers and 37 mothers were born in foreign countries Of the 68 deaths, 11 were foreigners.
The eldest man who died was Rev. R. S. Storrs, D.D., aged 86 years and 6 months.
The eldest woman who died was Mrs. Mary Faulkner, aged 84 years and 7 months.
The month of March has proved the most sickly, when, during 28 days, 14 deaths are recorded.
The most remarkable cases of mortality occurred in the family of Mr. Thomas Sullivan, on Pond street, where, in the brief space of five days, five children, one son and four daughters, died of that dreadful disease cere- bro spinal meningitis.
