RECREATION

To see if the Town will vote to ap- propriate from the income of the Electric Light De- partment the sum of $12,923.07 for Depreciation Fund ; the sum of $300.00 for the salaries of the Municipal Light Board; the sum of $10,000.00 for the Bonds, and the balance together with the unexpended balance of -$5,815.00 of the year 1926 for operating expenses, re- newals, repairs and new construction.


WATER DEPARTMENT


Article 96. To see if the Town will vote to ap- propriate from the income of the Water Department

the sum of $300.00 for salaries of the Water Con.mis- sioners, and the balance for operating expenses, ex- tensions, renewals, repairs, new construction, and expenses of said department.


Article 97: To see if the Town will vote to ap- propriate a sum of money to continue the six-inch water main from dead end on Lakeview Avenue, through to Franklin Street, a distance of about 150 feet.


Article 98. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the extension of the water mains on Grove Street, from Plain Street to Liberty Street.


EDUCATION


Article 99. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Public Schools.

Article 110. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to assist Post 87, G. A. R., Braintree Post 86, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lennon-Murray Post No. 923, in defraying expenses of Memorial Day.

Article 114. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept the report of the Zoning Committee, appointed in accordance with the vote of the Town under Article 109 of the Annual Town Meeting of 1926, and adopt the zoning by-law as recommended in said report, or take any action with reference thereto.


Article 115. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the ex- . penses of the Planning Board in the preparation of a -comprehensive town plan.


Article 116. To see if the Town will vote to . amend Section 2, Article VII of the Town By-Laws : for the purpose of changing the length of term of office members of the Planning Board so that the members of said board shall hold office for a term of - three years and in such amannerthat the terms of not more than two members shall expire in any one year.

Article 120. To see if the Town will vote to re- value properties throughout the Town and to see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate to defray the expense of a Commission of five, which shall be appointed by the State Tax Commissioner, and which shall consist of three non-resident experts and two residents of the Town, whose duty it shall be to re-value properties in the Town of Braintree.


Article 121. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to have printed and published in book form the assessed value of all prop- erty in the Town of Braintree, as the same appears in the Assessors' books for the year 1926, and to see if the town will appoint a committee of three who shall have full access to the Assessors' books, no one of said committee to be chosen from those now holding an elective town office.


Article 122. To see what action the Town will take under Article XLVIII of the amendments to the constitution covering the proper initiative, namely II, Section 3, for "An Act to permit certain sports and games on the Lord's Day."


Article 123. To see if the Town will vote to pur- chase or take by eminent domain, certain land on the northerly side of Wynot Road, in part for school and in part for Park purposes and raise and appropriate a

sum of money for the same, and for the taking of land „by eminent domain on said Road for highway purposes.


Article 124. To see if the Town will vote to auth- orize the Selectmen, to dispose of a piece of land in . South Braintree Square, now belonging to it, and ac- «cepted as a gift under article 99 of the Annual Town Meeting of the year 1924.


Article 125. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for dredging the channel of the Fore River, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 126. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the installation «of electric lights from Five Corners to a point about -2,000 feet south of said Five Corners, or take any ac- - tion relative thereto.


Aticle 127. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to erect one pole, and install one street light half way between Franklin kStreet and the present light at the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Sumner Avenue.


Article 128. To see if the Town will vote to pur- chase or take by eminent domain for highway pur- poses land on Pond Street belonging either to Avis A. Thayer or the heirs of Moses Dyer, and raise and ap- propriate a sum of money for the same.

Article 130. To see if the Town will vote to re- peal Section 17 of Article 10 of the By-Laws which

now provides :- "Section 17. , Whenever an existing- private. way, the fee of which is in the abuttors, shall be laid out for the acceptance of the Town as a Town way, the documents relating to such laying out shall be accompanied by a. letter from the Selectmen, which shall be filed in the office of the Town Clerk, together- with said documents, before such way shall be ac- cepted. .... This letter shall state that such private- way is well built; and that, as constructed, it is equal. to the average construction of the existing highways- of the Town."


Article 131. To see if the Town will vote to raise- and appropriate a sum of money in accordance with- Chapter 654 of the Acts of 1913, as a Reserve Fund ...

The Annual Town Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P. M., by the Moderator, William F. Rogers.


Article 1. Voted to elect 3 Measurers of Wood and Weighers of Hay.


Charles G. Sheppard, Wilfred F. Woodsum and Fred W. Piercy elected.


Voted to elect 3 Measurers of Lumber.


Herbert W. Borden, Charles O. Miller and Shelley A. Neal, elected.


Voted to instruct the Selectmen to appoint One Pound Keeper, Three Field Drivers and Three Fence Viewers.


Article 2. Voted that the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen be, and hereby is autho- rized to borrow money from time to time in anticipa- tion of the revenue of the financial year beginning Jan- uary 1, 1927, and to issue a note or notes therefor pay- able within one year. Any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of said financial year.


Article 3. Voted that the Town Treasurer be, and is hereby made custodian of all moneys of the several Departments of the Town; the Board of Water

Commissioners are hereby instructed to elect the Town Treasurer treasurer of the Water Department; the Selectmen are hereby instructed to require from the Treasurer such a bond as in their judgment is neces- sary for the safety of such moneys; that the Treasurer be held harmless on his bond from any loss caused by the failure of any National Bankor Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit with the approval of the Selectmen.


Article 4. Voted that the Tax Collector be held harmless on his bond from any loss caused by the fail- ure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit with the ap -- proval of the Selectmen.


Article 5. The Finance Committee presented their report and recommendations in print.
