In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachu- setts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in elections therein, to meet at the polling places in their respective Precincts, to wit :-


Polling Place in Precinct 1, Town Hall.


Polling Place in Precinct 2, Legion Building, Hol- lis Avenue.


Polling Place in Precinct 3, Hose House, Allen® Street.


On Monday, the fourth day of March, 1935, at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to bring into the Wardens of their respective Precincts their votes on the official ballot for a Moderator, Town Clerk, a Town Treasurer, one Selectman for a term of three years, one member of the Board of Pub-

lic Welfare for a term of three years, one member of the Board of Assessors for a term of three years, one Water Commissioner and Commissioner of Sinking Fund for a term of three years, two members of the School Committee for a term of three years, one member of the Municipal Lighting Board for a term of three years, one member of the Board of Health for a term of three years, one Sewer Commissioner for a term of three years, one Sewer Commissioner for a term of two years, one Park Commissioner for a term of three years, a Tax Collector, a Tree Warden, one member of the Planning Board for a term of three years, and fifteen Constables; also to vote on the following question on the same ballot :- "Shall an act passed by the General Court in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-four, entitled, ‘An Act establishing a Town Manager Form of Government. for the Town of Braintree,' be accepted ?"


The polls will be opened at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon, and will be closed at three o'clock in the afternoon.


You are further directed to notify and warn the said inhabitants qualified to vote as aforesaid, to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree on Monday, the eleventh day of March, 1935, at seven forty-five o'clock in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :-


Article 1. To choose all Town Officers, except those elected by ballot.


Article 2. To hear and act upon the report of the several boards of Town Officers, and committees, and choose any committee the Town may think proper.

Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Se- lectmen,to borrow money from time to time in antici- pation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1935, and to issue a note or notes there- for, payable within one year, and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, Gen- eral Laws; any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the financial year be- ginning January 1, 1935.


Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Se- lectmen, to borrow money from time to time in antici- pation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1936, and to issue a note or notes there- for, payable within one year, and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, Gen- eral Lews; any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the financial year be- ginning January 1, 1936.


Article 5. Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Se- lectmen, to receive gifts in the form of contributions

and agreed contributions, to be applied in reduction of the general operating expenses of the Town for the current fiscal year.


Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Select- men, to borrow money for the general municipal pur- poses under the authority of and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 49 of the Acts of 1933, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 8. To see if the Town will hold its Treasurer harmless on his bond for any loss which may arise from the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit, said Bank or Trust Company being des- ignated by the Selectmen.


Article 9. To see if the Town will hold its Collec- tor harmless on his bond from any loss which may arise from the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit, said Bank or Trust Company being desig- nated by the Selectmen.


Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate a sum of money for a Re- serve Fund for extraordinary and unforseen expendi- tures during the current year.

Article 42. To see if the Town will vote to accept gift of Charles O. Miller to the Town of a certain parcel of land located north of Adams Street, adja- cent to Fore River Railroad, and containing 11,850 square feet of land more or less, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 43. To see if the Town will vote to accept conveyance of the Old Colony Gas Company to the Town of Braintree of a certain parcel of property on Shaw Street, East Braintree, and more particularly bounded and described as follows :-


Northerly by Shaw Street; Southerly by the loca- tion of the South Shore Branch of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company; and wes- terly by land of said Railroad Company; containing 6120 square feet more or less. Said premises are con- veyed subject to betterment assessments of 1934, which the grantee, by the acceptance thereof, as- sumes and agrees to pay, or take any action rela- tive thereto.


Article 44. To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout of STANWOOD AVENUE, situated 410 feet westerly from Hollingsworth Avenue, as made by the Selectmen, and shown on a Plan entitled "Plan

and Profile of Stanwood Avenue, Braintree, Mass.,- Ernest W. Branch, Civil Engineer, dated November 23rd, 1934", or take any action relative thereto.


Article 45. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a Town Way, WALNUT STREET, so-called, from Storrs Avenue Extension to Lakeside Drive, Braintree, as laid out by the Board of Selectmen, and raise or borrow and appropriate a sum of money for the im- provement of the said way.


Article 46. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a Town Way, LAKESIDE DRIVE, so-called, from Walnut Street to Granite Street, Braintree, as laid out by the Board of Selectmen and raise or borrow and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the said way.


Article 47. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to require that all Town officials, Department Heads and special bodies of persons empowered by the Town to act under pub- lice authority, submit each year to the Board of Se- lectmen a full and itemized account of all expendi- tures of public moneys which they have made, and to see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to publish said accounts each year in the Town report.


Article 48. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to publish each year in the Town report, the total amount of salary, wages or compensation received by each and every paid employee of the Town of Braintree.


Article 49. To see what sum or sums of money will be appropriated to reimburse ELLEN Brown to

compensate her for the use of her premises by the Sewer Commission to deposit refuse and other ma- terial or take any other action thereto.


Article 50. To see if the Town will vote to aban- don as and for a public way, that portion of GROVE STREET lying between the Eastern Massachusetts Street' Railway Company's High Tension Line and Land of Ina Cutting, as shown on Plan No. 286 on file in the Town Engineer's Office.


Article 51. To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate a sum of money in addition to sums of money already appropriated, to cover the town's share of materials, trucking and other necessary ex- penses in connection with E. R. A. projects as may be approved by the Finance Committee, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 52. To see if the Town will vote to author- ize its Selectmen to sell either at a private sale or public auction the following property owned by the Town of Braintree: to wit :-

Article 53. To see if the Town will authorize its Selectmen to sell at Public Auction, real estate now in its possession by reason of foreclosure of Tax Titles or otherwise, or take any action relative to the dispo- sition of such property.


Article 54. To see what sums of money the Town wll vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the expenses of the Planning Board, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 55. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money from the income and revenue of the Water Department of the Town of Braintree for the general operating expenses of the Town; and to see if the Town will vote to authorize the Water Commissioners to transfer the said sum of money to the Town Treasurer to be used to defray the general operating expenses of the Town, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 56. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money from the income and revenue of the Electric Light Department of the Town of Braintree for the general operating expenses of the Town; and to see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Electric Light Commissioners to transfer the said sum of money to the Town Treasurer to be used to defray the general operating expenses of the Town, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 57. To see what disposition the Town will vote to make of money received from Dog Licenses.


Article 58. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate such money as may be necessary for the purpose of purchasing or taking

land in Precinct Two and constructing a grade school building thereon, and purchasing the equipment for same, and to authorize the Treasurer with the ap- proval of the Selectmen to borrow all or any part of said sum, or take any action in relation thereto.


Article 59. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will adopt, and memorialize other Towns and Cities within the Commonwealth, and the Great and Gen- eral Court, urging them to adopt the substance of the following resolutions, or to see what action the Town will take with reference thereto :-


RESOLVED: That in the methods to be used in constructing and repairing our individual properties, these methods be adopted which will employ men, rather than utilize machinery to the exclusion of man- ual labor.


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That in all con- templated projects of larger proportions to be done under contract, a stipulation be included in each con- tract which shall specify what work is to be done by hand labor, and what is permitted to be done by ma- chinery :-


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That in all work to be carried on by the several municipalities, such means be used as will absorb those at present unem- ployed, and thereby release the Federal Government from the obligation, made to restore confidence throughout the Country; besides curtailing the elab- orate work of administration which now causes the extra burden of expense to the people.

You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof in three public places in each Voting Precinct in said Town of Braintree, ten days at least before said fourth day of March, 1935, and by publishing the same once each week for two successive weeks in the Braintree Observer and the Braintree Citizen, the first publication to be at least eight days before said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this War- rant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk be- fore said meeting.
