In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, quali- fied to vote in elections therein, to meet at the polling places in their re- spective Precincts, to wit:


Polling Place in Precinct 1, Noah Torrey School.


Polling Place in Precinct 2, Town Hall.


Polling Place in Precinct 3, Hollis School.

On Monday, the second day of March 1942, at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to bring in to the Wardens of their respective Precincts their votes on the official ballot for a Moderator; Town Clerk; a Town Treasurer; one Selectman for a term of three years; one member of the Board of Public Welfare for a term of three years; one member of the Board of Assessors for a term of three years; one Water Commissioner and Commissioner of Sinking Fund for a term of three years; two mem- bers of the School Committee for a term of three years; one member of the Municipal Lighting Board for a term of three years; one member of the Board of Health for a term of three years; one Sewer Commissioner for a term of three years; one Park Commissioner for a term of three years; a Tax Collector; a Tree Warden; two members of the Planning Board for a term of three years; two trustees of the Thayer Public Library for a term of two years; and ninety-one Town meeting members as fol- lows: Thirteen Town Meeting members in Precinct 1 for a term of three years; one Town Meeting member in Precinct 1 for a terni of two years to fill vacancy; one Town Meeting member in Precinct 1 for a term of one year to fill vacancy; fourteen Town Meeting members in Precinct 2 for a term of three years; two Town Meeting members in Precinct 2 for a term vi two years to fill vacancy; one Town Meeting member in Precinct 2 for

The polls will be opened at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon and will be closed at eight o'clock in the evening.


You are further directed to notify and warn the said inhabitants quali- fied to vote as Town Meeting members, to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree on Monday, the sixteenth day of March, 1942, at seven forty-five o'clock in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To choose all Town Officers, except those elected by ballot.


Article 2. To hear and act upon the report of the several boards of Town Officers, and committees, and choose any committee the Town may think proper.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treas- urer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1942, and to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year, in accordance with the provisions of Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws.


Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treas- urer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1943, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year, in accordance with the provisions of Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws.


Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money for general municipal purposes under the authority of and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 40 of the Acts of 1933, as amended, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and ap- propriate a sum of money for a Reserve Fund for extraordinary and un- foreseen expenditures during the current year.


Article 7. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for Interest and Maturing Debt the present year, or take any action relative thereto.


Articie S. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for Liability Insurance, Insurance on Town prop- erty and Workmen's Compensation, or take any action relative thereto.

Article 9. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the Norfolk County Hospital Assessment, for maintenance and repairs.


Article 10. To see what action the Town will take with reference to providing a general salary increase for all employees of the Town of Braintree; or the employees of any or all departments of the Town.


Article 11. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and ap- propriate such sums of money as may be necessary for the purpose of giv- ing a fifteen percent salary increase to all employees in the various depart- ments and divisions of the Town, including the full complement of officials and employees of the Town of Braintree, and to vote said fifteen percent salary increase to take effect as of January 1, 1942; or take any action re- lating thereto.

Article 15. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to eradicate rag-weed and poisonous ivy in the Town of Braintree, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 16. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the maintenance and operation of the Water Department, the same to be taken from the revenue of the Department, and the unexpended balance of 1941, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 17. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the in- come of the Water Department, the sum of $300.00, for the salaries of the Water Commissioners.


Article 18. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the in- come of the Electric Light Department, the sum of Three Hundred dol- lars ($300.00), for the salaries of the Electric Light Commissioners.


Article 19, To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for Street Lighting.


Article 20. To see if the Town will vote to include in the Tax Levy for electricity used for street lighting, the sum of Eight Thousand dollars ($8000.00) as appropriated under Article 19 of the Warrant for the 1942 Annual Town Meeting, and that said sum together with the income from sales of electricity to private consumers, or for current supplied to Munici- pal Buildings or for Municipal Power, and from sales of appliances and jobbing during the current fiscal year, to be appropriated for the use of the Municipal Light Plant, the whole to be expended under the direction and control of the Municipal Light Board for repairs, renewals, new con- struction and operating expenses of the plant for the fiscal year, as defined in Section 57 of Chapter 164 of the General Laws, and that, if said income shall exceed the expense for the fiscal year, such excess shall be transferred. to the construction fund of said plant and appropriated and shall be used for such additions to the plant as may thereafter be authorized by the Municipal Light Board.


Article 21. To see what sum or sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purposes of the Sewer Department, to be expended by the Board of Sewer Commissioners, or take any action rela- tive thereto.


Article 22. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $300.00 for salaries of the Board of Sewer Commissioners.


Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and ap- propriate any sum or sums of money for the construction of Sewers for Sanitary purposes, or take any action relative thereto.


HIGHWAYS


Article 24. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Highway Department, including labor, repairs, and building sidewalks, stone roads and removal of snow, repairs to highways, Town ways and Bridges; Oiling and Tarring of Streets; purchase of equipment for said department; and collection of rub- bish; or take any action relative thereto.

To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for Town Ways, the following streets, as laid out by the Selectmen, or take any action relative thereto :- WASHINGTON PARK ROAD, from Wash- ington Street to French Avenue; TENNEY ROAD, from Union Street" to Meadowbrook Road; MEADOWBROOK ROAD, from French Ave- nue to Tenney Road; BEECH STREET, from end of acceptance October, 1938, approximately 1290 feet east; LINDEN STREET, from Beech Street, approximately 610 feet south; MAGNOLIA STREET, from Com- mercial Street, approximately 1390 feet east; CYPRESS STREET, from Beech Street, approximately 375 feet south; CRAWFORD ROAD, from Crawford Street to Pearl Street; B. V. FRENCH STREET, from Middle Street to Arnold Street; ROSE AVENUE, from Pond Street to Fairview Avenue; SAGAMORE STREET, from Fountain Street, approximately 350 feet east; PARKSIDE CIRCLE, from Parkside Avenue to Parkside Avenue; CEDAR AVENUE, approximately 100 feet between Dewey Avenue and Oregon Avenue.


Article 26. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way; COMMERCIAL COURT, so-called, approximately 130 feet in a southerly direction from Commercial Street; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 27. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, PARK AVENUE, from the present lay-out and point of acceptance, to Wildwood Avenue; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 28. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the widening of the Bridge on JEFFERSON STREET, South Braintree; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 29. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of a sidewalk and curbing on the south side of Sumner Avenue from the corner of Hol- lingsworth Avenue to Elmwood Avenue; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 30. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, DICKERMAN LANE, so-called, 335 feet southwesterly from Common Street, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of said way; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 31. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, HOOVER AVENUE, so-called, approxi- mately 540 feet in a southerly direction from Logan Road; and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of said way; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 32. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, HILLSIDE AVENUE, so-called, approxi- mately 600 feet in a westerly direction from Marietta Avenue, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the im- provement of said way; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 33. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of an Asphalt Sidewalk on the west side of STANDISH AVENUE, from a point near the intersection of Park Avenue to the corner of Arbutus Avenue, a dis- tance of about 500 feet; or take any action relative thereto.

Article 34. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, PRIMROSE STREET, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the said way; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 35. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac-


cept as and for a Town Way, GLENDALE ROAD, so-called, running in a northerly direction 330 feet from Pond Street, as laid out by the Select- men; and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of said way; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 36. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept for and as a Town Way, BERWICK STREET, so-called, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of said way, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 37. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the improvement of the UNION STREET UNDER- PASS or the approaches thereto; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 38. To see if the Town will vote to accept a new lay-out of that portion of Liberty Street opposite land of Elmer E. Vinton and Fred Stimson, for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk thereon, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same; or take any action relative thereto.


PARK DEPARTMENT


Article 39. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the general uses of the Board of Park Commissioners, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 40. To see if the Town will vote to set apart an additional portion of Watson Park, on lease, or otherwise, for the use of the Braintree Yacht Club; or take any action relative thereto.


CEMETRIES


Article 41. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the improvement of Cemeteries, or take any action relative thereto.


SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES


Article 42. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Public Schools, or take any other action relative thereto.

Article 50. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the payment of printing and distribution of the Annual Report of the Town of Braintree for 1941.


Article 51. To see what distribution the Town will vote to make of the income of the Thayer Fund.


Article 52. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the expenses of the Planning Board, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 53. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise. and appropriate to meet the payment of certain bills contracted prior to January 1st, 1942, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 54. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the care and maintenance of property acquired by the Town under Tax Title Foreclosure procedure, or take any other action rela- tive thereto.


Article 55. To see if the Town will vote to authorize and direct the Assessors to use any sum or sums of money from Free Cash toward the reduction of the 1942 tax rate.

Article 56. To see if the Town will vote to establish as and for a Town Forest under the control of a permanent Forestry Committee, a tract of land now owned by the Town under Tax Title Foreclosure procedure, and designated as Plot 5 on Assessors' Plan No. 1088, and other parcels ad- joining and connecting therewith, acquired by the Town in a similar man- ner; or take any action relative thereto.
