The large amount of outstanding checks is caused by reason of a Warrant being issued on December 31, 1936, and consequently the checks issued for payment of these accounts could not be cancelled in Decem- ber 1936.

The Treasurer's books of accounts are always open for public in- spection to any citizen of Chelmsford, if any information is desired the Treasurer will be glad to assist any person in the matter.

My report for the year 1936 has been condensed in order to reduce the expense of printing the Town report.

The classification of the receipts and expenditures will be found under the Town Accountant's report.

HAROLD C. PETTERSON,

Town Treasurer.
