1 I would like to express my appreciation to the various departmental per- sonnel, executive and employees; the members of the Board of Selectmen. and my excellent office assistants for their fine spirit of co-operation extended to me since I entered the service of our Town. They severally and collectively have made a difficult task much easier than it might otherwise have been. Those of my fellowtownsmen who have come in seeking information have been most patient and understanding; to them I am also grateful.
Lewis I. Hilton,
Town Accountant.

ANNUAL TOWN REPORT
TREE DEPARTMENT
The greater part of the work done in the tree department this year consisted of the removal of dead and dangerous trees other than elms, and the prunning and repair of others.
Line clearing of the Town lines is in progress at the present time, and more trees are being removed.
Respectfully submitted,
Myles J. Hogan.
MOTH DEPARTMENT
Spraying was carried out as usual throughout the town. It consisted of 2 adult sprays, with the remaining funds applied to the badly infected areas.
Owing to an unseasonable spring, no dormant oil spray could be applied, as the ensecticide would crystalize if used in low, flux- uating temperatures causing injury to trees.
Respectfully submitted,
Myles J. Hogan.
DUTCH ELM DEPARTMENT
Over 100 elm trees were found to have Dutch Elm disease in 1956. Adding to a back log of work in this department it is a finan- cial impossibility to remove all trees affiicted.
This year, 75 large elms were removed, plus over 100 smaller ones. Only when essential to safety, were roots removed.
Various trees which showed slight infestation were treated, and diseased areas removed.
Respectfully submitted,
Myles J. Hogan.
285
ANNUAL TOWN REPORT
POISON IVY CONTROL
The poison ivy spray this year was applied to rural areas with no sidewalks, due to the many complaints received.
Respectfully submitted,
Myles J. Hogan.
