ART. 19. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to accept a conveyance from Lillian Shores of land at the southwesterly corner of Twin Spring Road and Hesper Street, containing approximately 2044 square feet, for high- way purposes; or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of the Town Counsel.


ART. 20. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $1,700 for the purpose of constructing a surface drainage system on Stanton Street, a distance of 500 feet with manholes and catch-basins, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of Mrs. Sonia Brostrom and others.


ART. 21. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $400 for the use of the Engineering Department in replot- ting land in the Golden Hills section of Saugus as a result of the transfer by the General Court of a part of this land with the buildings thereon to the Town of Wakefield, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of the Board of Selectmen.


ART. 22. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $2500 for work on Main and Howard Streets, to be used in conjunction with an award of a like sum from the County of Essex and the sum of $5000 from the State De- partment of Public Works, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of the Board of Selectmen.

ARTICLE 7. Voted: That the sum of $2,000 be and the same hereby is appropriated for Tax Title Expenses. 8:55 P. M.

ARTICLE 9. Voted: That the sum of $625.63 be and the same hereby is appropriated for unpaid bills for lighting the Boston- Salem Turnpike from December 1, 1931 to March 1, 1933, due the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under Chapter 447, Acts of 1931; and that the Board of Selectmen be instructed to take steps possible to discontinue lighting this highway. 8:57 P. M.


ARTICLE 10. Voted: to indefintely postpone.


ARTICLE 11. Voted: That the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and he hereby is authorized to borrow for general municipal purposes the sum of $100,000 but in no event a sum in excess of the amount of tax titles taken or held by the Town, and to issue a note or notes of the Town therefor, all in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 49 of the Acts of 1933. The said sum of $100,000 is hereby appropriated to meet outstanding revenue loans of 1934. Yeas 111, Nays 0. 9:01 P. M.


ARTICLE 12. The Planning Board submitted an oral report of approval after duly advertising and holding a public hearing relative to this article, which was unanimously adopted.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Saugus qualified to vote in Town Elections and Town affairs to assemble in the Town Hall on Monday Evening, August 20, Nineteen Hundred and Thirty-four, at Eight o'clock to hear and act on the following articles, viz:

To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treas- urer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money for general municipal purposes under authority of and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 49 of the Acts of 1933; or take any action relative thereto, agreeable to the petition of the Town Treasurer and the Board of Selectmen.

ART. 7 . To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning By-Law by inserting after the word "playgrounds" in sub- paragraph 5 of Section 4 thereof the words "municipal fire and/or police station buildings," or to see what action the Town will take in the matter.


ART. 8. To see if the Town will vote to amend Section 16 of the Zoning By-Law of the Town of Saugus by striking out the same and inserting in place therefor the following:


SECTION 16. Automobile Services and Fuel Oil Stations.


(a) No portion of the front or side lines of a public garage, automobile repair shop, greasing station, storage battery service station, or gasoline filling station, or any of their appurtenances or accessory uses, shall hereafter be placed within fifty feet of any residence district. No driveway to such premises shall be in any part within fifty feet of any residential district. No such premises shall have any driveway entrance or exit for motor vehicles within three hundred feet of the property used by any public or private school, public library, church, playground, or institution for the sick or dependent, or for children under sixteen years of age. Every filling station shall hereafter be located not less than fifteen

feet inside the building line and no filling shall be done except into cars standing on the property of the filling station.


(b) No tank or container for the storage of fuel oil or gasoline of a capacity greater than two hundred seventy-five gallons shall be constructed or maintained above ground within three hundred feet of any dwelling or within three hundred feet of the property used by any public or private school, public library, church, play- ground or institution for the sick or dependent, or for children under sixteen years of age, nor shall any such tank or container be constructed or maintained within one hundred feet of a way used by the public for travel, or to see what action the Town will take, agreeable to the petition of Laurence F. Davis and others.


ART. 9. To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning Map and the Zoning By-Law so that the premises on Broad- way shown as Lot A-24 on Assessors' Plan 1039 will be zoned for business, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of Earl E. Bentley and others.


ART. 10. To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning Map and the Zoning By-Law so that the premises on both sides of Broadway from Walnut Street to the Saugus-Lynnfield line will be zoned for business to a depth of 100 feet, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petit- ion of Earl E. Bentley and others.

Whereas, Irving E. Campbell came to this Town of Saugus in his early youth, received his education in our public schools and graduated from the Saugus High School with the Class of 1913, and


Whereas, during his school career he displayed and developed those sterling qualities of American manhood which guided him to success in business here and


Whereas, he was among the men of Saugus who responded to the service of the United States of America in the World War, receiving in foreign service wounds which broke him down in health and on August 11th, 1934, caused his decease,


Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, by the voters of the Town of Saugus, in Town Meeting assembled this 20th day of Au- gust, 1934, that the life of Irving E. Campbell be commemo- rated in our records, and


Further, that we extend to his widow and children our sin- cere expressions of sympathy and understanding in their great sorrow, and


Further, that these resolutions be spread upon our records and that a copy of hereof, suitably inscribed, be sent his widow by the Town Clerk. Yeas 123 unanimously. 9:26 P. M.

M. Said Article from the Town Warrant of August 20, 1934. After hearing the evidence for and against Article 7 the Board voted unanimously to recom- mend the passage of said Article, in this it's final report.
