Resolved, that the duly elected representatives of the Town of Swampscott, assembled in town meeting April 4, 1934, express their appreciation of that interest and service by conferring on Professor Thomson the honorary title of Trustee Emeritus of the Swampscott Public Library, and be it further
Resolved, that these resolutions be entered in the records of this meeting and in those of the Board of Trustees of the Public Library, and that the Town Clerk be instructed to send a copy of them to Professor Thomson.

That the Moderator be authorized to appoint a committee of seven to study the salaries and wage scale of officials and employees of the town, and also to study existing type of town government with a view of improving the same.

That the town authorize the Surveyor of Highways to use a part of the present budget for the purpose of reimbursing the employees of the Highway department with the amount of money due them caused by the deduction of 10 per cent. from their wages from January 1, 1934, to March 8, 1934.

ADJOURNED SPECIAL TOWN MEETING April 11, 1934
In accordance with the adjournment from the Town Hall, the town meeting members assembled at the auditorium of the Hadley school and were called to order by John R. Hurlburt, Moderator, at 8 P.M., the necessary quorum being present (117).
Voted to dispense with the reading of the records of the last meeting.
Under Article 9 a hearing was declared, it being an article to amend the Zoning By-laws. James Santry, Jr., Angus Macdonald, appeared for the amendment, James Mahoney, Edward Garity, Philip Stafford, Thomas S. Bubier and Gustavus J. Esselen appeared against same. The hearing which lasted one hour and thirty minutes, was declared closed.
Planning Board report was read by George M. Glidden, which recommended that action be indefinitely postponed.
A motion to amend the Planning Board report and recommenda- tion was made that the town vote that the property described in Article 9 be re-zoned as a business zone.
Previous question called for was lost. For 54; No 48, not being carried by a two-thirds vote.
Amendment to the Planning Board report, that the town vote that the property described in Article 9 be re-zoned as a business zone, For 42; No 74; amendment was lost.
Voted, Article 9. To accept the report of the Planning Board, and adopt their recommendations.
That action on this article be indefinitely postponed.
