Voted, That the Town do authorize its Overseers of the Poor to contract at their discretion for the support of the town's poor.

Article 6


Voted, That the Town do authorize the Town Treas- urer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow dur- ing the fiancial year beginning January 1, 1926, in antici- pation of the collection of revenue of said year, such sums of money as may be necessary for the current expenses of the Town, but not exceeding the limit fixed by law, giv- ing the note or notes of the Town, therefor, payable within one year from the dates thereof, and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a less period than one year, providing the limit of one year is not exceeded thereby. All debts incurred under this authority shall be paid from the revenue of the then current year.

Article 7


Whereas, it is befitting that the death of our honored fellow citizen of Scituate be noted by those who have known him for many years, and


Whereas, in the death of Thomas W. Lawson this community has lost a loyal townsman and good neighbor.


Now, therefore, be it, Resolved that the estimation of the citizens of the Town of Scituate of the worth of Mr. Lawson, his value as a public spirited man and his interest in the welfare of the Town be spread upon the records of this town meeting and a copy thereof sent to the individual members of his family.


Accepted by unanimous vote.


Wherefore, be it,


Resolved that the citizens of Scituate in town meet- ing assembled express this appreciation of the virtues and worth of our fellow citizen and town officer William P. Richardson, and order a copy hereof to be spread at large upon the Town records and a copy delivered to the widow of our townsman.


Accepted by unanimous vote March 2, 1925.

Article 8


Voted, That the Town authorize the Selectmen to prosecute, compromise or defend any suit or suits within the Commonwealth in the name of the Town.


Article 9


Voted, That the Town do instruct its Selectmen to control, regulate or prohibit the taking of eels, clams, quahogs, razor fish and scallops within the Town of Scituate, in accordance with Chapter 91, Section 85, Re- vised Laws, as amended by Acts of 1913, Chapter 517 and further amended by Acts of 1915, Chapter 86, Gen- eral Laws.


Article 10


Voted, That the Town do authorize the Selectmen to contract for the part time service of a Public Health Nurse, to be employed under the direction of the Board of Health, Overseers of the Poor, and School Committee, and that $1,200 be raised for that purpose.


Article 11


Will the Town vote to establish the salaries and compensation of all elected Town Officers.


Voted, Selectmen, $200 for each member and legiti- mate expenses, and $100 additional for the Chairman.


Overseers of the Poor, $125 for each member and legitimate expenses.


Assessors, $500 for each member and legitimate ex- penses; $1,000 additional for Chairman, and $500 addi- tional for clerical assistance.


Highway Surveyor $2,400, he to furnish his own con- veyance while in the performance of his duties and bear the expense of same.


School Committee, $100 for each member and legiti- mate expenses.

Tax Collector $1,800 and legitimate expenses. Treasurer $1,200 and legitimate expenses.


Constables $50, if not a regular salaried officer.


Park Commissioners to receive a salary of $50 each, to come out of the appropriation for the Park Com- mission.


Tree Warden $300.


Board of Health $1,000, to be paid to the Board of Health for the full salary, for all the members of the Board, and this sum shall include their charges for all services performed by them or either of them, other than Inspector of Plumbing.


Inspection of meat and inspection of cattle from ap- propriation for Board of Health.


Moderator $10 for each meeting.


Article 12


Voted, That the Town appropriate from the Excess and Deficiency account Thirty thousand dollars ($30,- 000), to be expended under the direction of the Civic Centre Committee, in grading and finishing the work on the grounds at the Centre as shown on plan adopted by the town in March, 1919.

Voted, $50 for the care of the Old Cemetery.


Article 14


Voted, $200 to be expended by the Trustees of the Scituate Historical Society for needed repairs upon the Cudworth House.

Voted, That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $500, to continue the filling in and grading of the parking space off Bailey's Causeway.

Voted, That the Town retain the Road Committee, composed of the Selectmen, Chairman of Advisory Board and the Highway Surveyor, to determine, after a public hearing, held by it, what highways in the Town shall be specially repaired, the character of the work to be done, and the nature and contract for its performance.


Article 18


Voted, That the Town raise and appropriate $30,- 000, for the repairs and rebuilding of highways, under the Committee heretofore chosen, and the amount of $30,000 be assessed in the tax levy of the current year.

Article 22


Voted, $5,500, for the purchase of a new road roller.


Article 23


Voted, That the Town do authorize and instruct the Selectmen to acquire by purchase or taking by right of eminent domain the following described parcel of land for a gravel pit, as described in Article 23, and known as the Percy Mann gravel pit.

Voted, That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $500, to purchase a lot of land for the erection of a Fire Station for District No. 4, and that the Fire Engineers be authorized to locate a site for the same east of Hatherly Road.

Voted, That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $6,000, for the construction and erection of a Fire Station at North Scituate Beach.


Article 30


Voted, $200, to be expended under the direction of the Clean-up Committee.

Voted, That the Town make the Town Forest a bird and game sanctuary and recreation spot for the com- munity.

Voted, That the purchase of the building known as the Judges' stand at Dreamwold for a band stand, be re- ferred to the Committee of the Civic Centre, to be pur- chased if at all under the funds voted in Article 53.

To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of $300, to cover the expense connected with the use of the Town Hall for Athletics, etc.

Article 55


Will the Town vote to instruct the Board of Health that it is the wish of the Town that all contracts for the removal of garbage, refuse, ashes, etc., be let out by bid under rules and regulations to be formulated by the Board of Health, etc.

Voted, That a public hydrant be situated at Country Way, North Scituate, near pole No. 952,935, cost of same from the appropriation for hydrant rental.

Voted, $300 to continue the sidewalk from Henry Webb's to the Hose House on Brook Street.

To see if the Town will vote to build a Warrenite- bitulithic sidewalk or other permanent material, on the southerly side of Gannet Road from the home of the late Hans G. Dick and extending to the creek, etc.

Voted, That the Selectmen be authorized to sell to Eldgar L. Willard the gravel pit on Gannet Road at a price to be made by the Selectmen, and a deed fur- nished in the name of the Town.


Article 61


Voted, That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $5,000 to be used in connection with an appro- priation by the State of Massachusetts for the further dredging of Scituate Harbor.


Article 62


Voted, That the Town will pay a reward of $50 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any- one stealing fruit, vegetables or other property within the town limits the ensuing year.

Voted, That the Selectmen be instructed to keep the right of way open from North to South across Peggoty Beach.

Voted, That the Town raise and appropriate $1,900 for the resurfacing of Humarock Bridge with Warranite- bitulithic paving.

Voted, That the Town do amend its By-Laws by adding thereto the following. Article 1, Section 6, to read as follows: Seventy-five members shall constitute a quorum for the raising and appropriation of money in the warrant providing for such action.


The foregoing By-Law is hereby disapproved.

Voted, That the Town accept the layout of the Park Commissioners and acquire land for park purposes in accordance with said layout, and for this purpose there be apporopriated the sum of $3,658-the same to be in addition to the $1542-which is the balance left from amount previously appropriated for park purposes, and to meet this appropriation there be transferred from the excess and deficiency fund the sum of $1,058.00 and the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of $2,600- and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, said bonds or notes to be payable in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44 General Laws, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than two years, or at such

Article 4


To see if the Town of Scituate will instruct the Selectmen or Park Commissioners to accept as a gift a part of Peggoty Beach being lots No. 1, 2, 3, and 4, etc. Voted, To indefinitely postpone.


Article 5


To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout of the Selectmen and to acquire land for a town way. East. of Front Street, etc.


Voted, No-a two thirds vote required.
