CLASS MOTTO "Today Decides Tomorrow"
CLASS COLORS Blue and White
CLASS SONG ALMA MATER
O who will arise and go forth on the road Where the bends are unknown and untried? O who will press out to the far-away hills And rejoice in a strength undefied? Today we look forth on the pathway of life And exult in the splendor of truth. In knowledge we're sure, and in faith we are firm, We rejcice in the vigor of youth.
And yet these same dreams in whose beauty we thrill Will be broken and wrought all awry. Ideals that we cherish, acclaim that we win Will be crushed in the dust-not to lie- But ever to conquer, since we will arise And face life with our hearts unafraid. We'll honor the name of the school that we love, Nor betray it the tryst which we made.
Words by Eleanor Doucette, '36 Music by Margaret Whittet, '36

REPORT OF COUNTY EXTENSION SERVICE
Report of Middlesex County Extension Service
For the Year 1936
This County institution carried on as an aid to agriculture is repre- sented in Wakefield by Mrs. Emily G. Climo, 10 Franklin Street. Services are free to any citizen of the Town. County headquarters are maintained at 19 Everett Street, Concord.
In response to requests, newspaper articles have been furnished on home gardening topics, and circular letters sent to poultrymen and fruit growers. A talk on shrubbery pruning was given before the Wakefield Gar- den Club.
The Home Demonstration Agent has conducted meetings for St. Joseph's Mother's Association and at the Greenwood Union Church. A canning demonstration was conducted by Professor William R. Cole, State Food Specialist for a group of homemakers.
Approximately 400 boys and girls were enrolled in various projects, the work being carried on by volunteer leaders with Mrs. Climo as 4H Chair- man.
An officers' training school was conducted early in the year by local leaders and County Club Agent. The January Rally at the Y. M. C. A. was well attended and a handicraft contest was held in Greenwood in April.
Girls clubs from Wakefield and Greenwood exhibited at the High School. Mrs. Esther Oliver's "Learn to Earn" club who have worked to- gether for six years were awarded National pins at the exhibit. Leaders from other towns assisted with judging Wakefield exhibits, pins being awarded for all club members completing.
Six club members were awarded the two day trip to the State College at Amherst and six members attended Camp Middlesex. Mrs. Climo at- tended the local leaders camp at Amherst.
Five girls entered the sectional dress contest held in Wakefield on Girl's Day, May 16th and thirteen girls participated in the sectional food con- test and eight girls in the poster contest. Several members took part in the radio music memory contest.
The outstanding event of the year for the County for a single individual in club work was that of Emily Climo, who was awarded a trip to the National 4H Camp in Washington for her record of work and leadership.

The Trustees of The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library herewith sub- mit the eighty-first annual report for the year 1936:
In reviewing the year 1936 the Trustees have no new lines of work to report. It has been a year of concentrated effort to give the public the very best possible service in every department, and the many expressions of appreciation would indicate that the patrons recognize the value of the Library to the community. One patron expressed her thanks by writing a note to Miss Carleton in which she said among other things, "the Li- brary makes Wakefield a better place in which to live."
More and more it has become natural to turn to the Library for help as the varied subjects represented in requests would seem to indicate. Every sort of call comes. "Have you a book on skiing, mushrooms, stamps, an- tiques, goats, covered bridges?"-are some of the questions asked. Material in answer to such requests is furnished if it is possible. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes it takes considerable research. Sometimes a government pamphlet will help, sometimes the material is borrowed from another library. This service is always available to all patrons.
Various displays in the balcony and the Lecture Hall have been held. These displays are very closely allied with the educational work of the Library, and, while their influence can not be measured, it is always felt.
A series of displays of books and other material of special interest in connection with the moving pictures shown in Wakefield, have been arranged in the Newspaper Room throughout the year. The motion picture stills for these exhibits have been in every case the gifts of Mr. Charles W. Hodg- don, owner of the local picture houses. Many of these stills are valuable additions to the picture collection as they are authentic pictures of period costumes and historic settings.
For the first time in a number of years there has been no change in the staff personnel. The continued interest and loyalty of every member, the willing attention given to every detail is a matter of satisfaction to the Trustees.
A valuable gift was received when the Wakefield Choral Society pre- sented to the Library its collection of music consisting of over 11,000 scores. Part of this has been bound as a W.P.A. project, and, if Federal aid is avail- able in the future, it would be especially desirable to finish the binding. Already this collection has been used by the leaders of the choral work at the High School, the Kosmos Club chorus and the choral groups in churches.
Other gifts of books, magazines and flowers have been gratefully re- ceived. The Library is indebted to Mrs. Junius Beebe for the beautiful Christmas decorations, and to Mr. Harris M. Dolbeare and Mr. Gardner E. Campbell for their generous gifts of space in the Wakefield Daily .Item.
In accordance with the previous policy, as much repair work has been done as was possible with the budget allowed. In the very near future it

will be necessary to redecorate the Reference Room, and some repairs on the upholstery must be made soon in order to avoid greater outlay later.
It is gratifying to report an increased use of children's books as is shown by the appreciable gain in circulation in that department.
Except for a loss accounted for by the deposits at the Federal Transient Camp which was closed in April, the total circulation has remained prac- tically the same as last year.
