TOWN CLERK'S REPORTS.
It will be noticed by the foregoing schedule that there are two school-houses that remain uninsured, and that there are six more on which the insurance expires the coming year. I see no rerson why that the liability to burn is not the same with these as those insured ; therefore, I would recommend to the town to appropriate money enough to insure all of the school- houses or else not reinsure those expiring the coming year,

WARRANT FOR ANNUAL MEETING, 1881.
C OMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS. WORCESTER SS.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Southbridge. Greeting.
In the name of the commonwealth aforesaid you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town of Southbridge, qualified to vote in elections and in town affairs, to meet at the Town hall in said Southbridge, on Monday, the fourth day of April next, at nine o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles:
ARTICLE 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.
ARTICLE 2. To choose all necessary town officers for the ensuing year-the Clerk, Treasurer, Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, Asses- sors, School Committee, Library Committee, Cemetery Committee, Auditors and Constables will be voted for on one ballot; and the polls will be kept open until 2 o'clock P. M., unless the meeting shall other- wise determine.
ARTICLE 3. To hear the reports of the Auditors of Accounts, Clerk, Treasurer, Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, Fire Engineers, School Committee,! Library] Committee, "[and Cemetery Committee, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 4. . To raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to pay town bills and charges the ensuing year, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 5. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as posted and presented by the selectmen, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 6. To see if the town will allow? the usual¿ discount on taxes, excepting the taxes assessed on polls, or act!thereon.
ARTICLE 7. To see if, the town will authorize the collector of taxes 'to use the means for collecting taxes which the Treasurer when ap- pointed a'Collector may use, or act_thereon.
ARTICLE S. To see if the town will' authorize the Treasurer to bor- row money for the use of the town in anticipation of [ the taxes to be assessed the current'year, and to give the notes of the town[therefor, payable out of such taxes, or act thereon.

ARTICLE 9. To see if the town will transfer the following accounts, to wit. $19.08 from Marcy street walk and $26.07 from Main street walk to Main and Pleasant street walk, and $5.81 from Hamilton street walk and $.28 from Main street walk to the credit of sidewalks.
ARTICLE 10. To see if the town will vote to pay the engine men for the ensuing year, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 11. To see if the town will raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be required to pay firemen, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 12. To see if the town will raise and appropriate money to defray the expenses of the observance of decoration day. or act thereon.
ARTICLE 13. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to borrow money to renew, replace or pay any existing debts of the town, and to give the notes of the town therefor. or act thereon.
ARTICLE 14. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to settle with the Collector of Taxes for the year .1880, and adjust the accounts for such collections and allow to said Collector such credit as he shall be entitled to receive, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 15. To see if the town will build the following new side- walks-On Pleasant street from Canal to N. W. corner of estate of Chester Curtis, deceased; on Hamilton street from Union church to the store of J. S. Gleason; on Everett from Main to the Cemetery avenue, and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 16. "To see whether the town will by its vote or otherwise ask the legislature to extend to women, who are citizens, the right to hold town offices and to vote in town affairs on the same terms as male citizens," or act thereon.
ARTICLE 17. To vote by ballot "Yes" or "No" ir answer to the question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town," the check list being used, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 18. To see if the town will vote to purchase lamp-posts and lanterns to be placed as follows: one on Pine street, one on Dresser street and two on Chapin street, and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
ARTICLE 19. To see if the town will vote to build a new school house, locate the same and purchase land therefor, to raise and appro- priate money for the same, or act thereon.
