WARRANT FOR TOWN MEETING. APRIL 7, 1890.
WORCESTER, SS.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Southbridge, in the County of Worcester, GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby directed to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Southbridge, aforesaid, qualified to vote in elections and town affairs, to meet in the Town Hall in said Southbridge, on Mon- day, the seventh day of April next, at nine of the clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles :
ARTICLE I. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
ART. 2. To choose all necessary town officers for the en- suing year, viz .: Clerk, Treasurer, Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, Board of Health, Assessors, School Committee, Auditors of Accounts, Cemetery Committee, Library Committee, a Sink- ing Fund Commissioner and Constables.
ART. 3. To vote by ballot "Yes or No" in answer to the question, "Shall license be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town."
ART. 4. To hear the report of the Auditors of Accounts, Treasurer, Clerk, Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, Fire Engineers, School Committee, Library Committee, Board of Health and Cemetery Committee, and act thereon.
ART. 5. To raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to pay town debts and charges the ensuing year, or act thereon.
ART. 6. To see if the town will allow a discount on taxes paid within a certain period, or act thereon.
ART. 7. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to borrow money in anticipation of taxes, or act thereon.
ART. 8. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as posted and presented by the Selectmen, or act thereon.
ART. 9. To see if the town will vote to pay the engine men for the ensuing year, or act thereon.

TOWN WARRANT.
ART. 10. To see if the town will raise and appropriate money for the observance of Memorial Day, or act thereon.
ART. II. To see if the town will raise and appropriate money to pay the Water Supply Company for the use of hydrants and drinking fountains for the ensuing year, or act thereon.
ART. 12. To see if the town will vote to fix the compen- sation of town officers, laborers and teams for the ensuing year, or act thereon.
ART. 13. To see if the town will raise and appropriate money for the support of the militia.
ART. 14. To see if the town will vote to establish an arc electric light at the intersection of roads leading to Sturbridge in Globe Village ; also one at the corner of High street exten- sion and Glover streets.
ART. 15. To see if the town will vote to determine the hour for extinguishing the street lights, or act thereon.
ART. 16. To see if the town will vote to build a sidewalk on the easterly side of Elm street from the school house to a point near the intersection of Everett street, raise and appropri- ate money therefor, or act thereon.
ART. 17. To see if the town will vote to build a sidewalk on the westerly side of Pine street, raise and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
ART. 18. To see if the town will vote to accept the report of the selectmen for the laying out of a new street leading off Glover street, or act thereon.
ART. 19. To see if the town will vote to discontinue the use of a piece of land abutting on the land of Oscar Barrett on the corner of South and Sayles streets.
ART. 20. To see if the town will vote to build a sidewalk on the west side of Pleasant street from Walcott to Robert street, raise and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
ART. 21. To see what action the town will take regarding a report of the Town Hall building committee, or act anything relating to the same.
ART. 22. To see what action the town will take to erect a proscenium arch and to provide stage fixtures and scenery for

the Town Hall stage, to raise and appropriate money therefor, or act anything in relation thereto.
ART. 23. To see if the town will authorize their Treasurer to transfer from unappropriated funds the following sums of money : $204.98 to Dresser street walk, $162.27 to Hamilton and Hook street walk ; also to unappropriated funds $2.01 from Sayles street walk.
ART. 24. To see if the town will vote to build a sidewalk on Edwards street from the residence of Rev. James Donahoe to Marcy street, raise and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
ART. 25. To see if the town will establish an electric fire alarm system, raise and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
And you are directed to serve this warrant by publishing an attested copy thereof twice in the "Southbridge Journal" and "Southbridge Herald," the first publication being not less than nine days next preceding the day of the meeting,-or by posting up such attested copies in four conspicuous public places within the town, at least nine days, including Sundays,- before the day of holding said meeting. The polls will be open at 9 o'clock a. m. and close at three o'clock p. m.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place hereinbefore named.
