GREETINGS:
In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, you are required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town qualified according to law to vote in State, County, District and Town affairs, to assemble at the TOWN HALL, in said Town, on Tuesday the 23rd day of September A. D. 1947, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. to act on the following articles :
Art. 1. To choose a Moderator.

September 23, 1947
In accordance with the warrant calling this Special Meeting the citizens of Pepperell qualified according to law to vote in State, County, District and Town affairs as- sembled at the Town Hall, on Tuesday evening September 23, 1947 at 8:00 o'clock P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the Town Clerk who read the Warrant, appointed tellers and called for the nomination and election of a Moderator.
Art. 1. Motion made and seconded that the Town Clerk cast one ballot bearing the name of Trescott T. Abele to serve as Moderator. Trescott T. Abele was elected Moderater and was sworn to the faithful performance of his duties by the Town Clerk and at once took up Article 2.
Art. 2 Voted that the Town shall transfer the sum of $1,000.00 from surplus Revenue for removal of ice and snow for the balance of 1947.
Art. 3. Voted that the Town shall transfer the sum of $500.00 from surplus Revenue for new snow fences and posts.

Report of Fire Department
Pepperell, Mass., January 1, 1948. To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
The engineers of the Fire Department submit the fol- lowing report for year ending December 31, 1947.
The department answered 86 alarms:
Nineteen (19) regular; thirty seven (37) grass; twelve (12) chimney; eight (8) dump; two (2) cars; three (3) out of town; two (2) false and three (3) persons rescued.
The apparatus is in first class condition. We have 4500 feet of 21% inch hose and recommend appropriation of $250.00 for Hose Fund for replacement of broken lines.
We recommend $4,000.00 for regular appropriation.
The roof at Foster Street Engine House is leaking badly, and must be repaired to protect rest of the build- ing. We already have estimate on the job and recommend special appropriation of $1,000.00 for same.
At a special town meeting we were voted $1,500.00 for oil burning heating plant which has been installed and work- ing excellent.
We want to thank the Telephone Operators and Police Department for their splendid co-operation throughout the year.
