All as reported and recommended by the Selectmen under date of February 6, 1959 and to authorize and instruct the Select- men to take by purchase or eminent domain the lands or. interests in the lands within said layouts and to raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) for this purpose and to act fully thereon.

Article 82. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of two thousand four hundred forty dol- lars ($2,440) for the purpose of oiling and improving the fol- lowing roads: Orton Road, South Harwich; Brettwood Road, South Harwich; Grassy Pond Road, Harwich Port; Ostable Road, West Harwich; Bayport Road, West Harwich; and to act fully thereon.

Article 86. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to lay out Damon Road, West Harwich as a Town Way and to act fully thereon.

Article 87. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to lay out Moody Road in Harwich Port as a Town Way and to act fully thereon.


By request of Maud D. Coulson and others. Motion: To accept and adopt, raise and appropriate the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.). So voted unan- imously.


Article 88. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to lay out as a Town Way, Victoria Road in East Harwich and to act fully thereon.

Article 89. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to lay out John Josephs Road leading from Route #39 to Queen Anne Road and to raise and appropriate the sum of seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) for this purpose and to act fully thereon.

Article 92. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money for the purpose of painting and repairing the Elevated Water Tank at Kildee Hill in Harwich Port and to act fully thereon.

Motion: To accept and adopt. So voted unanimously. Transferred from the Water Department construction ac- count Art. 95 the sum of three thousand dollars ($3,000.).


Article 93. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to be used by the Board of Water Commissioners to purchase a new truck for the Water Department, and to authorize the Board of Water Commissioners to sell or trade in the 1951 Pick-up truck now in use and apply the money received against the purchase price of the new truck and to act fully thereon.

Hamilton, provided there is a 6% return guaranteed on the amount of money expended there- for and to act fully thereon.

RESOLUTIONS PASSED AT THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETINGS; 1959


1. Be it resolved that the voters of Harwich assembled at the Annual Town Meeting put themselves on record as being in favor of having the complete list of the assessed valuations of the Town of Harwich as they are committed to the Tax Collector during the year 1959, published in their entirety in the Annual Town Report of 1959, and be it further resolved that these same voters put themselves on record as instructing the Board of Selectmen, the Board of Assessors, and the Town Clerk to see the execution of this resolve.


2. Be it resolved that the Water Commissioner of the Town of Harwich, be instructed to set up ways and means, whereby worthy applicants for water installation, on existing lines of supply, may acquire same on a down payment basis, with balance of payment to be paid at intervals, set by the commissioners.


The Water Commissioners are to have full control in carrying out this resolution. This resolve shall not apply to corporation.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town qualified to vote in elections and town affairs to meet in Exchange Hall in said Town of Harwich on Friday, November 20, 1959 at 8 P.M., and then and there to act on the following articles:


Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to accept the lay- out of "Orton Road in South Harwich leading from South Chatham Road north to a turnaround" as reported and recomended by the Selectmen under date of October 26, 1959 and to authorize and instruct them to purchase or take by eminent domain the lands or interest in the lands within said layout and to act fully thereon.


Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout of "Brettwood Road in South Harwich leading from Uncle Venies Road southeasterly to South Chatham Road" as reported and recommended by the Selectmen under date of October 26, 1959 and to authorize and instruct the Select- men to purchase or take by eminent domain the lands or in- terest in the land within said layout and to act fully thereon.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to accept the lay- out of "Grassy Pond Road in Harwichport leading from Miles Street, northerly, westerly, southerly and easterly to Grassy Pond Road" as reported and recommended by the Selectmen under date of October 26, 1959 and to authorize and instruct the Selectmen to purchase or take by eminent domain the lands or interest in the lands within said layout and to act fully thereon.
