Article 22. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of five thousand dollars for the installation of a larger water main and hydrants on Adams Street.

FEBRUARY 9, 1935


Annual Town Meeting assembled in the Auditorium of the High School at one o'clock P.M. according to call of Warrant, which was read by the Town Clerk, and under


Article 1. To choose two or more Fence Viewers and two or more Field Drivers.


William S. Halladay and Charles W. Hull were chosen as Field Drivers.


Williard C. Crouss and James W. Cesan were chosen as Fence Viewers.


Article 2. To hear and act upon the reports of the town officers.


Voted: To accept the reports of the town officers as printed in the town report.


Article 3. To see what method the town will adopt for the support of Public Welfare for the ensuing year.


Voted: To leave the matter in the hands of the Board of Public Welfare.


Article 4. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for the proper Observance of Memorial Day and provide for its expenditure.

Article 5. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for the payment of a proper charge of an Insur- ance Company for acting as surety on the official bond of its officers.

Voted: To apppropriate the sum of $750 in connection with like sums from the State and County for resurfacing South Street.


Article 12. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for continuance of construction of Suffield Street in conjunction with State and County Appropriations.


Voted: To appropriate the sum of $5,000, provided the State and County each appropriate a like amount for con- tinuance of construction of Suffield Street. The same to be contracted, with local labor to be used where possible.


Article 13. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for Land Damages on Letendre Avenue.


Voted: To pass over.


Article 14. To see if the Town will accept as Public Streets any or all of the following named streets viz : Albert Street from Main to Wyman, Edward Street from Main to Wyman, Wyman, South Park Terrace, Mulberry, Ellington, Monroe, Barney, Wilson and Harding.


Voted: To accept as Public Streets the following named streets; Albert Street from Main to Wyman, Ed- ward Street from Main to Wyman, Wyman, South Park Terrace, Mulberry, Ellington, Monroe, Barney, Wilson and Harding.

Article 15. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $1,000 or any other sum for the construction of a fence about the High School Play Ground and Athletic Field.


Voted: To appropriate the sum of $1,000 for the con- struction of a fence around the High School Play Ground and Athletic Field, and that the Moderator appoint a com- mittee of five persons to supervise the erection thereof. The following Committee was appointed; Percival V. Hastings, chairman, James E. Snell, Joseph L. Roy, Ade- lard Letendre, Lawrence N. King.


Article 16. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $50 to be expended in the Town by the Hampden County Trustees for Aid to Agriculture in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the commonwealth.


Voted : To appropriate the sum of $50 to be expended in the Town by the Hampden County Trustees for Aid to Agriculture in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the commonwealth.


Article 17. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for continuance of Federal projects.


Voted: To appropriate the sum of $30,050 ($50 being refund of 1934) for continuance of Federal projects.


Article 18. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for employment of a District Nurse.


Voted: To appropriate the sum of $2,300 for salary and expenses of a District Nurse under the supervision of the Agawam Health Association.


Article 19. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen,

to borrow money from time to time, in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1935, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period less than one year in accordance with Section 17 Chapter 44 of the General Laws.


Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1935 and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17 Chapter 44 of the General Laws.


Article 20. To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for installing a system of fire alarm for North Agawam.


Voted: To appropriate the sum of $750 to install a system of fire alarm for North Agawam district.


Article 21. To see if the Town will appropriate any sum of money for construction of permanent road on Cooper Street, beginning at Main Street. The work to be done by the Relief Department in conjunction with the E. R. A., if possible. Said sum to be raised by 1935 taxa- tion.
