Bow Street.
Nothing has been done on this street, because there is a prospect of some alterations being made by the County Com- missioners, which are now under consideration. We think there is a very evident necessity of an expenditure upon this street.
Arlington Ave.
Two sections of the avenue, that from the H. R. R. crossing to the shop of W. L. Clark, and a section near Teel street, have been crowned with stone and gravel. There are several sections that much need repairs the ensuing year.
Broadway
Has been thoroughly repaired from the main avenue to its junction with River Street. This was quite an expensive job, as we had to haul the material such a long distance. This. street is now in excellent condition, excepting that portion from Warren to Winter Street, which could be quite cheaply repaired by cutting the hill about a foot near the residence of Joseph Teel, thereby securing sufficient material for the purpose, and also taking a portion of the surface water from the vicinity of Tufts Street, which has to run the other way a long distance to water grates near Webster Street, and at times in such quantities that the grates are unable to receive it.
Dudley Street ..
Some portions of this street will need regravelling the coming season.
9
SELECTMEN'S REPORT.
Eastern Avenue.
Owing to the very steep grade of this street, some portions have become badly washed, and will soon need repairs.
Lake Street.
Some portions of this street are very flat, and becoming very rough and uneven, and need crowning with stone and gravel.
Lowell Street.
That part of the street near the Reservoir and Lexington line should be macadamized or gravelled the ensuing year.
Medford Street.
As we have before suggested, this street, from the Cemetery to Mystic River, is in very bad condition, and we think demands the attention of this department the very first of the season.
Mystic Street.
Quite an unexpected outlay has been necessitated the past year on the bridge and street near Winchester line caused by the setting back of the walls by Mr. Smith, as located by the County Commissioners. The hill near the Russell Park has been repaired.
North Union.
The hill near the residence of David Scanlan has been repaired with stone and gravel.
Pleasant Street.
A portion of this street has been repaired with stone and gravel.
10
SELECTMEN'S REPORT.
Park Avenue.
No gravel has been used on this street the past year. It will need considerable crowning in some places the ensuing season.
River Street.
Very much needs crowning its entire length with gravel.
Westminster Avenue.
This street, accepted by the town last spring, was our first work of the season, and we think we can safely assert that we have, within our estimate, completed a street satisfactory to residents of that locality, and a street that will wear for a long time without many repairs.
Sidewalks.
As will be seen by the report of loads of gravel used, con- siderable has been placed on the walks. This does not include that paid for by abutters, as whenever they wished for screened-gravel, one-half the expense has been paid by them. Many gravelled walks in town much need repairs.
