Fox, Consultant on Zoning, March, 1924" which By-Law or By-Laws and Map show- ing the districts of classes were adopted at the adjourned meeting held May 15, 1924, of the Annual Town Meeting of 1924, or take any action thereon.

or By-Laws restricting buildings to be used for particular industries, trades, manufacturing or commercial pur- poses to specified parts of the town, excluding them from specified parts of the town; subjecting such buildings if situated in certain parts of the town, to special regula- tions as to their construction or use; providing that certain kinds of dwelling houses and tenement houses shall be restricted to specified parts of the town, or shall be excluded from specified parts of the town, or that dwelling houses or tenement houses situated in specified parts of the town shall conform to certain regulations in respect to their construction or use which do not apply to such buildings in other parts of the town; and regulating the use, construction, alteration, repair, height, area and location of buildings and other structures within the limits of the town; amend its by-laws relating to all or any of the foregoing; ratify all or any of its votes relating to any such by-laws or portion or portions there- of ; make an appropriation for the purpose; or take any action relating to all or any of the foregoing.
Article 20. To see if the town will vote to place the playground at the Crosby School in the jurisdiction of the School Committee and the Park Commissioners jointly, or take any action relating thereto.

By virtue of this Warrant I have notified and warned the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the time and place and for the purposes herein named by causing a printed attested copy of the same to be left at every dwelling house in the town, by posting an attested copy at the doors of the Town Hall seven days at least before said day of meeting and by posting attested copies in two or more conspicuous places in each voting precinct in the town. A notice of the time, place and objects of the meetings was published in the local papers.

Pursuant to the Warrant of the Selectmen served according to law upon the inhabitants of the Town of Arlington by a Constable of said town and sent by mail by the Town Clerk at least seven days before the day of meeting to the Town Meeting Members, duly elected and qualified to act in Town Meetings in Arlington, the Town Meeting Members met in the Town Hall in said Town on Wednesday, June 4, 1924. Notices of the meeting were published in the local papers.

Lists of the duly qualified Town Meeting Members were used at the entrances of the meeting place and were in charge of James F. Higgins and Philip T. Robinson.
The Check Lists filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting showed that one hundred and seventy-six Town Meeting Members attended the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at eight o'clock by the Moderator, John G. Brackett.
The Town Meeting Members not already sworn were sworn by the Moderator.
The Town Clerk read the Call of the meeting and the Constable's Return of the Warrant.

Voted (By two-thirds vote) : That the laying out of a town way from Broadway to Warren street, substantially in the location of the private way known as Allen street, and more particularly described in Article 2 of the Warrant, as made and reported by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, be accepted, said way established and said Joint Board authorized to take land for thé purpose of said way; that the sum of forty-six hundred fifty- seven ($4,657) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the original construction of said way, including land damages and the cost of pavement and sidewalks laid at the time of said construction, all under the pro- visions of law authorizing the assessment of better- ments; and that said sum be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Board of Public Works.
Article 3 taken up. (Building Line Southeasterly on Tufts Street.)
Voted (Unanimously) : That the establishment of a building line along the southeasterly side of the way known as Tufts street from Broadway to Massa- chusetts avenue, substantially parallel with and distant approximately 81/2 feet from the said southeasterly side of said way, as made and reported by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, and more particularly described in Article 3 of the War- rant, be accepted ; the said building line be established, and that, as provided in said establishment steps, windows, porticos and other usual projections ap- purtenant to the front wall of a building may be erected and maintained between said building line and

Deeds, plan book 21, plan 4, bounded south- easterly by Park avenue, seventy-five (75) feet, south- westerly by the lot numbered three (3) in said block one hundred sixty (160) feet, northwesterly by the lot numbered fifteen (15) in said block sixty-five (65) feet, and northeasterly by the lot numbered one (1) in said block one hundred sixty (160) feet, containing 11,200 square feet more or less; that the sum of seventeen hundred ($1700) dollars be and hereby is appropriated therefor; and that said sum be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Selectmen.

Voted (Unanimously) : That the Selectmen be and hereby are authorized to appoint a Town Ac- countant, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 41 of the General Laws and all Acts in addition thereto or Amendment thereof; and that the sum of one hundred (100) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the salary and expenses of any such Accountant, such appropriation not to affect any appropriation made for the Town Auditor.

That the Board of Selectmen be and hereby is authorized and empowered in the name and on behalf of the town, to take by right of eminent domain, for school purposes the parcel of land described in Article 13 of the Town Warrant, and that the sum of seven thousand dollars be and hereby is appropriated for · said purpose.

Voted: That a substitute motion be not passed.
