January 24, 1929. Arlington, Mass.
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen,
Gentlemen:
The Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works respectfully submits its twenty-fifth annual report for the year ending December 31, 1928.
At the Annual Town Election, held March 5, 1928, Mr. Arthur P. Wyman was elected Selectman for a term of three years and by reason of such election became a member of this Board. Mr. James R. Smith was re-elected a member of the Board of Public Works and thereby continues as a member of this Board.
The Board organized with Mr. Hollis M. Gott, Chairman, and Mr. John A. Easton, Clerk.
The following appointments were made for the year ending April 1, 1929: Town Council, Paul M. White; Town Engineer, James M. Keane; Superintendent of Wires, William E. Mason.
STREET LIGHTS
The present lighting schedule was continued. At the Annual Town Meeting an additional appropriation was made in the budget to provide for the installation of lights on all unaccepted streets, and such lights were installed as rapidly as was possible, and the entire installation was substantially completed at the close of the year. This improvement has given great satisfaction to the residents who have benefited thereby.

REPORT OF JOINT BOARD
The ornamental lighting system on Massachusetts Avenue has been extended from Franklin Street to the Cambridge town line. The Stagger System was adopted and has proved very satisfactory.
