Article 55. To see if the Town will accept the establish- ment of a building line along the easterly side of the way known as Tufts Street from Broadway to Warren Street as made and reported by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works; establish said line; make an appropriation therefor, including damages; determine in what manner the money shall be raised; or take any action relating thereto.


Article 56. To see if the Town of Arlington will vote to petition the Legislature to change the Town By-laws so as to permit the election of its Selectmen as follows: One Selectman to be elected from each precinct of the Town to serve for three years with salary as at present. Present Selectmen to continue to serve as if elected from their precincts. New Selectmen to be elected as follows: First Year, Precincts No. 1 and No. 2 - If not represented to elect for term of one year, Precincts No. 3 and No. 4 - If not represented to elect for term of two years, Precincts Nos. 5, 6 and 7 - If not represented to elect for term of three years. Second Year, Precincts No. 1 and No. 2 -

Elect for term of three years unless represented by present Selectmen. Thereafter for term of three years as necessary. If new precincts are added to the Town a readjustment can be made without petition to the Legislature so as to allow election of approximately one-third of the number of Selectmen each year. Article 57. To see if the Town will accept Chapter 31, General Laws of Massachusetts, and any amendments thereto relative to Fire Departments; or take any action relating thereto.

Article 58. To decide and determine, by referendum of the voters of the Town of Arlington, Massachusetts, whether or not it is advisable to change the present form of government from Town government to City government, and to petition the Legislature for such change in form of government.

To see if the Town will amend its Zoning By-law by altering the zoning map therein referred to so as to include in a Business District all of the area on the Northerly side of Broadway now included in a general Resident District, one hundred twenty-five (125) feet from and parallel with the northerly side line of Broadway from the westerly side line of Webster Street to the easterly side line of the present Business District; or to take any action thereon.

To see if the Town will modify the Town Zoning By-law by including in the single residence district an area described as follows: Beginning at a point on the boundary line as shown by the present zoning map between the present single residence district and the present general residence district westerly of Bloomfield Avenue at a point 400 feet northeasterly

By inserting the words "and no premises shall be used," before the word "for" in the first paragraph of Section 2, before the word "for" in the first para- graph of Section 3, before the word "for" where it first appears in Section 4, before the word "for" in the first paragraph of Section 5, before the word "for" in the first sentence of para- graph B of Section 6, and after the words "reconstructed, or used," in the first paragraph of Section 17. 2. By inserting in Section 4, the words "premises and/or," after the words "except that." 3. To see if the Town will authorize the Select- men to purchase or take in fee by eminent domain for the purpose of street widening and park purposes certain parcels of land situated in said Arlington and bounded substantially as follows: Southwesterly on Massachusetts" Avenue, 42 feet; northwesterly on Church Way, 191 feet; northeasterly on Bacon Street, 60 feet; southeasterly on Central Street, 187 feet; containing approximately 9700 square feet (more or less); make an appropriation of money for the purpose; deter- mine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended; or take any action relating thereto.

Article 65. To see if the Town will make an appropriation, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, for the original construction of public ways in the Town, the laying out of which is accepted at this meeting, including land damages and the cost of pavement and side- walks laid at the time of said construction; determine in what manner the money shall be raised; or take any action relating thereto.


And you will notify and warn the voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the times and places herein specified by leaving at every dwelling house in the Town a printed copy of
