The firemen have done duty the past year as follows, namely :
Company No. 1. - This Company have been called out at eight alarms of fire ; have been pres- ent at six, and worked their engine at five fires. Five of these alarms were in Newton, and three in Needham.
Company No. 3. - Have been called out and been present at nine fires, - all of which were in town, - and at two alarms of fire.
Company No. 4. - Have been called out and been present at one fire.

Company No. 5. - Have been called out at twelve alarms of fire, and been present at five fires. Five of these alarms were in Newton, three in Brighton, one in Dorchester, one in Watertown, one in West Cam- bridge, and one in Charlestown. Company No. 6. -- Have been called out at two alarms of fire, and been present at one fire.
The engine companies have held regular monthly meet- ings during the year, for drill and business.

It will be seen by the above account, that the financial af- fairs of the Almshouse, have been well cared for, the past year. Notwithstanding the increased cost of every article neces- sary for its use, the net expense has been less than last year.
Much credit is due to the Warden and his wife, for the continuance of their very kind and judicious management of the establishment.
