REPORT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

TO THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN :

Gentlemen :- We have answered forty-eight alarms of fire during the year, nearly an average of one a week.

Forty-three of these were brush fires, rather a large number, but we must remember this has been a hard year all over the State and we received no more than many other towns.

The Department has tried to protect the town's property to the best of its ability, but we have been obliged to overrun our appropriation to do so. The appropriation was sufficient for an ordinary year, but not intended for a year like the one just passed.

The water supply in the Centre and about the South Station has been improved, and I hope every year will see an addition in this line.

If the town would purchase a light express wagon to be stationed in the Centre of the town with a supply of twenty-five or thirty milk cans to be carried on this wagon with the hand pumps and brooms, it seems to me brush fires could be fought more successfully and at a much less expense.

This scheme is being used by quite a few towns with marked success.

Respectfully submitted,

C. S. HARRIMAN, Chief.

AUDITOR'S REPORT

The Assessors' and Collector's books for the year 1905 were verified and compared, and the Collector's accounts were examined on different occasions during the year, and his report shown in this book is correct.

All bills were examined each week before being paid, and at the end of the year were checked with the Selectmen's and Treas- urer's accounts.

The report of the Trustees of the Trust Funds was also examined.

The balance in the Treasurer's hands at the end of the year, five hundred and twenty-five dollars and ninety-three cents ($525.93), was found to be correct.

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON HISTORY OF WILMINGTON

TO THE CITIZENS OF THE TOWN OF WILMINGTON :-

Your Committee have carefully considered the subject and respectfully submit the following :

We are of the opinion, from the material exhibited to us, that all facts of sufficient importance for insertion in a history of the town (aside from what is already a matter of record, some of which has been published) could be condensed into a book of about two hundred pages.

If Mr. Bond should write, in a satisfactory style and for a reasonable price, the copy necessary for the production of such a. book, we should recommend its purchase by the town.

HERBERT N. BUCK, JAMES E. KELLEY, CHESTER W. CLARK,

Committee.
