At a meeting of the East Congregation in Watertown Orderly warned and meet the 14th of Aprill, 1719. M' Nat" Bright, was Chofen Moderator.

Wee chofe appoint & defire Majr Jonas Bond, Nathanael Bright, William Shattuck, Deacon William Bond, Deacon Nathan Fiske, L' Richard Coollidg, Josiah Goddard, Jonathan Stone & Jofeph Mafon, to be a Committee to reprefent us of the east end Congre- gation att said Town meeting & in our name to enter a defent or Protest against the Towns Voting in fd affaire as not being the proper bufinefs of our Town Meetings and to declare yt we es- teem it repugnant to the act of settlement made & established by the great & Generall Court of this Province in the year, 1712. Application being this day made to me the Subscriber One of his Majefties Juftices of the Peace within and for the f1 County of Middx By Jonas Bond Efqr and Ten other free holders and inhabi- tants within the Eafterly Precinct in said Watertowne, Seting forth that there is great need of A Precinct meeting to be Called. (1) for to Choose A Clerk. Committe and all other Precinct Officers (2) to take Care for the Carrying on of Preaching in sd Precinct, and to Come in to Some proper Method to proceed toward a full Settlement of the Gofpel Miniftrey in sd Precinct (3) to agree how to raife Precinct meetings for the future.

Gentlemen,
I Thankfully acknowledge the refpect you have Manifested to me in makeing Choice of, and inviting me to Settle with you in the work of the Sacred Ministrey.
I have taken the Same into moft Serious Confideration have afked the Councill of heaven, and taken the advice of the moft Suitable perfons to Consult with on reference to Such an Affaire, who do advise me to Settle with you in this great and weighty work of the Miniftery. And I find myself Inclined thereunto in having a profpect in being inftrumentall of promoteing the glory of God, the intereft of Religion and the good of Souls among you.
