CLIFF ISLAND.
Cliff Island is perhaps the least known of any of the more important islands of Casco Bay, and hence has even a better opportunity for growth than many of the larger islands whose attractions to the summer set are more widely known. There are reasons why Cliff, or Crotch Island, as it was formerly called, presents to the better class of summer travel a strong claim for patronage. The first and most important point is that it is one of the outside islands, out in the blue deep, where the waters of old ocean are clear as crystal, and the restless changing sea is ever wearing away the serrated rocks which are the foundation of the island. In bold contrast to the scene of surf and granite on its coast, is the magnificent pine and fir growth which now covers about four fifths of the surface.
The island is a part of the city of Portland, although it has no city airs withal There are several boats a day to and from Portland and to the lower islands. The. class of cottages here are modern built and of handsome designs, being occupied by some of our best non-residents, and as the steamer lands at the pier in summer, the scene is one of life and enjoyment.
There are several boarding houses and all enjoy an excellent patronage. The Island is not one of the largest in point of size but fully makes up in its natural beauties for any lack in this respect. From its southern side can be seen the pictur- esque Jewell's Island, only a half mile distant, and beyond: the open sea.
In point of churches and schools, Cliff Island has both; also an excellent grocery and general store, post-office with two mails a day in summer, etc., etc.
GRIFFIN'S COVE, CLIFF ISLAND. CHURCH AND SCHOOLS
Seventh Day Advent Church, established 1875. Present building erected 1899. Elder, H. C. Basney of North Deering. Service, Saturdays at 2:00, Sabbath school. Saturdays at 1:00. Regular prayer meetings Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7:00. During the summer these services are held at 7:30 p. m. Missionary meeting, Satur- day evening at 7:00; summer hour 7:30.
SCHOOLS.
City of Portland district school, 30 weeks, divided in fall, winter, and spring terms. Average number of pupils, 15.
Advent Church day school, teaches regular studies, hygeine and scripture. Term same as city school. Average number of pupils, 30.

Cousin's Island-Littlejohn's Island. (Town of Yarmouth.)
T HE SCENERY here is very attractive and a more pleasant spot for a summer vacation could not be found. The surface is well wooded with pine and hard wood growth. The drinking water supplies are ex- cellent. Littlejohn's Island on the east is connected by a bridge and is a fine drive. There are many points of interest and the Islands are a lively place in summer. A short row or sail of one-half mile on smooth water takes one to the mainland. Steamer accommodations to and from Port- land are frequent and the sail is a most pleasing one. The patronage of these Islands in summer may be said to exceed any other island in the bay, according to their size.
BAPTIST CHURCH .- Regular services in summer at 2 p. m. School District No. 1, Yarmouth, thirty weeks, divided in three terms. Both the School building and Church are handsome, modern structures.
