CAMDEN DIRECTORY.
POINTS OF INTEREST ALONG THE R., T. & C. ST. RY.
At Rockland, along the water front, are the patent lime kilns, from which about 1.350,000 barrels of lime are produced, yearly. At the North End can be seen the latest types of kilns; also a barrel factory with capacity of making from about 1500 to 2000 barrels per day.
At Simmons, White & Co., at Tillson's Wharf, is the famous lobster shipping department, from which live and boiled lobsters are shipped to all parts of the country this side of the Rockies.
At the South End is the Cobb, Butler ship yard, from which the fast sailing, five masted schooner, Fannie Palmer was launched.
The Rockland Highland car will take you to the limerock quarries which are of great interest to lovers of geology. There, veins of mineral of unknown depth run from the north-east to south-west.
At Thomaston near the Mill Creek is the old Gen. Knox meet- ing house. In the Thomaston Cemetery is the tomb of Gen. Knox. To reach this cemetery, leave the car at Erin street, only two minutes' walk. On the corner of Knox and Main streets is the Watts hall, presented to the Town by Capt. Samuel Watts.
At the west end of the Town is the Maine State Prison, the only one in the State. , This Prison is open to visitors every week day. The genial Warden, Mr. Smith, is always ready to welcome visitors.
Along George's Valley to Warren, you will cross the Oyster River, and over the old historic O'Brien ship yard. Across the

diver from this point stood the first church. Close by is the old burying ground. Along the banks of this beautiful river lived the first settlers of this section. They had to be ever on the alert to defend themselves against the fierce and crafty Indians.
Just before reaching the end of the line at Warren is a museum containing a valuable collection of Knox County Indian relics. A great many of them were found along the banks of the Georges' Valley. This museum is owned by the noted historian, Mr. A. M. Weatherbee.
At the end of the line is the mill dam at which hundreds of barrels of fish are caught every year.
On the route between Rockland and Camden, at Glen Cove is the Rockland, Thomaston & Camden Street Railway powder house; always open to visitors.
At Oakland siding, from the cars can be obtained a magnifi- cent view of Camden Mountains, Mt. Desert and Blue Hills, a distance of about 60 miles.
At Rockport are several lime kilns, and a shipyard.
Between Rockport and Camden, can be seen the beautiful Lily Pond, and the Jacob's Quarries. At Camden, Capt. Bean's ship yard, Camden Anchor Works and four woolen mills. Teams al- ways waiting to take visitors over beautiful drives.
